The only cool cat out of everyone who has ever been in Van Halen is David Lee Roth. Mike has turned into a fat slob. Alex and Eddie look like something out of a Tim Burton movie. Sammy and Gary are both gay. David Lee Roth is the only cool character left out of that cast of characters.
Dave made the right move!

I gotta say Mike and Sam were lame as well. Both were like deers standing in headlights. You think they could've thought of something profound to say.
I don't blame Dave at all.
How can you honor an artist for their work yet not give them a say in how their work is presented?
Its what Van Halen is all about.
IMPACT!
Which in this case was 1/2 ass. Dave is not a 1/2 ass performer.
Both presentations were half ass and that doesn't cut it when your competing for Greatest American Hard Rock Band of all time!
Iam not anti Hagar at all but you have to admit he looked like a Douche BAg when was forced to introduce Velvet Revolver.Comment

I think that's the whole point. Dave wasn;t given an opportunity to rise to the occassion.
We saw both of the options Dave was given and both were horrible.
Dave doesn't just show up. He goes 110% with full intention of kicking GrandMaster Flash's Ass!
Stevie Wonder said it best when he talked about how being inducted into the hall meant that the artists inducted have a special responsibility to perform like they are worthy of the honor.
Dave couldn't do that with those two options .
He choose to keep his integrity as an artist
It doesn;t get more Rock and Roll than thatComment

Well we got to see both of his options and both were really bad.
Velvet Revolver jumped the shark on this one. WHat an awful job!
The most uncool thing ever!
Induction speech was off the cuff and horrendous, the performance was even worse. "Err Van Halen used to play house parties in Pasadena that were sold out." OUtstanding Weiland!
It wasn't about the music at all again it was all about selling Tequila and the new VR record.
What an embarassment having Hagar introduce the Velvet Revolver performance. Then VR slaughters both ATL and how about Runaround? Weiland didn't sing a single verse?
This wasn't well rehearsed, passionate, or heartfelt at all.
THe Other 1/2 with the 1/2 assed house band? Pathetic
Dave would have ripped it up with his crew!
Although I questioned it at first, Dave made the right move!
THe heckler said at all when he shouted 3x "THat wasn't Van Halen"
Dave should have shown up, basked in the adulation, talked for a few minutes about the REAL history of the ONLY CVH, thanked his fans for putting up with spED, and walked off the stage to allow everyone else to be FOOLS.
Dave made the wrong choice.

The Fans that Bought tickets to this Made the Wrong Move."It's just not an option for me to go and watch some other band — who are only performing because they have some new record coming out — do our music," Roth said. "I have nothing against Velvet Revolver — I'm not familiar with their music — but that was my 3 minutes and 22 seconds up there."
Roth Keeps it REEEEAL

Just one month ago, things looked so hopeful...Dave back in, the promised tour, the band photo...the torch was lit, but looks like the fans got burned. Again.Comment

I'm a first time poster on this forum, lifelong Van Halen fan with attending several DLR concerts to my credit and excited about my recent purchase of the Spanish version of DLR's solo album.
I did catch the part of the RRHOF last night when Hagar and Anthony were being interviewed backstage. Hagar stated that VH brothers need to do a reunion with Roth since there isn't much left for the band to do at this point in their career. Then he said before the show cut back to the Grand Master Funk induction, "We all need to grow up and do it together."
Bear in mind that Roth and Hagar made a killing as a headlining act not even five years ago. In a Rolling Stone article that covered the show when it came through LA stated that Roth was no longer talking to the media, etc. Hagar's "Long Road to Cabo" DVD shows Roth not cooperating with Hagar on a request from Kid Rock to have Roth and Hagar perform together. The tour ended with Anthony and Hagar doing a free show in NYC for the fire fighters etc. since Hagar couldn't headline although it was his turn. Prior to the free show, Hagar and Roth gave a MTV award to Lincoln Park and Hagar saying, "After doing 80 shows with you, it's nice to finally see you."
The point being is Roth should have shown up, made lemonade with the lemons that came his way and got up on stage with Hagar and Anthony and Velvet Revolver and "sang and danced for his dinner" as he puts it.
Then at the backstage interview, he could have called to the brothers that although Eddie is being treated for alcoholism, they could have made music together on a night in their honor to show the world that Van Halen was influential and is a band of integrety.
This was a situation where all you had to do was show up, put your differences aside played a gig like professionals and make plans to get healthy.
Roth and his special personality prevented him from this, not that he was not allowed a chance.
Sorry for being long-winded. Let's hope that EVH will get better and those of us in our early 30s who were too young to see the original line-up back in the day will get a chance to see it soon. Even if Wolfgang is in the place of Anthony.Comment
