Perhaps the real reason Van Halen has not reunited is that either Ed wants to make Dave a salaried employee that does not share in profits (since Ed and Al "own" the Van Halen name) or because Dave wants more than 25% of the profits.

I am sure that in the end it comes down to not being able to make a business deal/agreement. I don't think it is necessarily an issue of Ed and Al not liking Dave or vice versa.

Although there are some striking similarities....I'll go with DLRoth and Gene & Paul. Roth did EVERYTHING for Van Halen as far as willing contribution goes, and Ace & Peter did NOTHING as far as willing contribution goes. Roth didn't miss shows and rehearsals because he was drunk or stoned. Roth didn't just follow Ed & Al (like Mikey), he was a true leader for the band, in every sense of the word. Ace & Peter proved in the mid seventies that they were not cut out to be co-owners of the band, they behaved as if they were employees all along.


There is a massive difference between the two bands' situations, but again, I'll go with DLRoth and Gene & Paul

People, Dave is not the PROBLEM, he's the SOLUTION. Leadership is not an easy role. Dave may be a little eccentric. But you do what works if your serious about whatever it is your doing. Im sure he can be an asshole, but look what he got out of the boys. You didn't hear them complaining when he made them famous the first time around did you?

If anything, in actuality he deserves much more than 1/4 from the dollars generated from the 6-pack. Much more...
