Why doesn't Dave get the RESPECT he deserves???

Can anyone explain why Dave does not get the respect he deserves?

In my opinion the greatest rock bands of all time are The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, and Van Halen.

You never hear people saying bad things about Paul McCartney, Mick Jagger, or Robert Plant. They are always given tremendous respect and people do not say bad things about them.

In my opinion David Lee Roth is in the same league as McCartney, Jagger, and Plant - the four greatest frontmen of all time of the four greatest bands of all time.

But you always hear people saying crap about Dave - he can't sing, he's a jerk, he's full of himself, he sucks compared to Gaygar, he is a has been, he's an idiot etc.

But no one says these things about McCartney, Jagger, or Plant.

The only explanation I can think of is that Dave's over the top, flamboyant, outspoken personality is something that a lot of losers feel threatened by, and to protect their fragile egos they attack Dave. But there must be more to it than that.

Why doesn't Dave get the respect he deserves?

Van Halen is Dave AND Eddie. Not just Dave and not just Eddie.

I think there are so many haters because the band was so popular. Thru Dave and after Dave, which alot of people grew up with Van Hagar. Van Halen is different than any other band. Zep didnt go on, The Stones have always been Jaggar, The Beatles didnt go on. Van Halen switched gears in its prime. What other all-time band did that? VH was just as popular after Dave left, but with a different sound, morre pop, which brought in a different music type. It wasnt raw and strong anymore, it was more bubble gum. You know what I mean. So all the writers, and critics, as well as the fans that were younger dont get it! They dont understand just how great and special and inovative Van Halen was. Thats why there is so much jealousy and MINE vs YOURS attitude. There was nothing like VH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's because he did it with Jimmy Page.

The reason why Dave and for the most part VH doesn't get the respect that alot do, is because of the split in 85. After the split. VH and Dave have been honestly only shadows of themselves when VH was a total entity, and revered and so popular.

After they split up, VH became bubblegum, and Dave became a parody, and that is just the facts. When Dave became Diamond Dave, is when his image as one of the greatest frontmen became more and more tarnished.

It's truly ashame though, because, alot of people who became fans of VH, after Dave was gone, just didn't get to see how unbelievable of a frontman he truly is, and how he could work a crowd into a rock frenzy.

If these guys can get through all the crap and get to the light at the end of the tunnel, i can see VH, still being able to make a huge impact on todays rock scene.

Lennon was the frontman for the Beatles. He was a founder and the senior member.
Songwriting credit was always Lennon-Mcartney as well.

Lennon sang 98 and so did Mcartney.

Dave is only at his best with Van Halen. Look at how much he looks like a star in that Rolling Stone photo. It's been years since he looked so good.

Dave is like a firecracker and Van Halen is a match. Separately it's not very exciting. But put them together and BOOM!!!
