Maybe I'm splitting hairs here, but I wouldn't consider Paul McCartney a great frontman-Yes to being one of the greatest songwriters of the 20th century, and making music that will endure long after we're shuffled off this mortal coil, but frontman? Not if he split most of it with John Lennon, and to a bit of a split with both George Harrison and Ringo Starr. Singer is one thing, songwriter is another, producer is something else, composer is entirely different. Frontman? For Paul, it's a bit of a stretch IMHO.

The only explanation I can think of is that Dave's over the top, flamboyant, outspoken personality is something that a lot of losers feel threatened by, and to protect their fragile egos they attack Dave.

I think Dave fucked with the people behind the music industry, I can't see any other explanation.

As much as we love CVH, they're just not held in as high regard as The Beatles, Led Zep, Stones, etc. as far as the general public is concerned.

The solo careers of Plant, McCartney, and Jagger are crap compared to their respective bands' output, but their bands are held in such high regard, they are extended a little professional courtesy.

Future generations will keep rediscovering Beatles, Zep,and Stones music, but the CVH fanbase is a dying breed by comparison.

So I think it's guilt by association for Dave. The band is kind of a joke, and that hurts his credibility.


Plus he's a little on the "odd" side at times.
