The answer to your original question is simple. Success and quality are not always measured in terms of record sales and concert attendance. When Dave and Van Halen split ways after 1984, Ed took the name of the band with him (the name Dave gave the band by the way, instead of Rat Salad). Ed and the new version of Van Halen fronted by a singer with little edge or contoversy played it safe and went more comercial then ever. Dave remained a creative, unpredictable artist. Some times you achieve popular acceptance that way sometimes you don't.

I imagine the art work on your walls are all from Sears, and that your music collection includes only Cds purchased at your local Wal-Mart. You may have even ventured out and bought a Marilyn Manson disk when everyone else was doing it. You follow the pack. Not to be dismsive, but you are a sheep. If that works for you have fun eating the grass. We here are of the opinion that conflict, and creative tention that was VanHalen was a special time in music. We see little worth in what they have done sense, and how they have gone about it.

As a final thought explain the lack of a guitar project from Edward. Why can Vai, Satriani, Malmstein and others produce and market their art, but not Eddie?
