Will there be a new CD reissues with bonus material?

Genesis are touring this summer and their record company is putting out part of their back catalouge in SACD / 5.1 surround + loads of bonus vids etc with each release.

Do you think VH will finally open the vault door and do the same when it comes to their tour?

I just plain don't understand why a ton of vaulted CVH stuff hasn't seen the light of day via official releases.

My best guess would be there's legal issues with royalties, and that is gumming up the works more so than Eddie or Alex trying to pretend CVH didn't exist.

You would think they would release some leftover Roth solo stuff on the reissues of ALAE and YFLM. Hell, the import for YFLM had an unreleased track that wasn't on the U.S. version.

I doubt it Katie. I just do not see it happening while they are alive: well, while Eddie is alive. I do not understand what the hell they are waiting for either. Perhaps Wolfgang will be in a position in the future to let us all have a taste of the music, or more.

I'd like to see the unreleased stuff surface in a remastered CVH box-set.

With Oakland 81 as the bonus DVD!

              Who wouldn't buy that?

I don't want to but the six-pack individually yet again. Fuck, I must've bought VH 1 four or five times by now.
Give me one big bangin' box set & I'll be set fo' life.

The only way that another reissue of the existing six albums is at all kosher, is if they do what the Grateful Dead did with their WB catalog.

They remastered each album, and added enough bonus tracks (much of it live material) to pretty much double the original length of the studio albums. They also included a 2 disc set of early demos and live performances from the mid 60's before the Dead was signed.

WB/Rhino/Van HALEN could take exactly this approach with the Van HALEN catalog. The 2 disc package would contain the Gene Simmons demo, the 77 WB demo and hopefully even the 74 Cherokee studios demo in the best possible sound quality, along with the best live material available, like the Starwood shows, or the 77 Pasadena civic center concert (their last gig before Van HALEN I's release, I believe)

Bonus tracks on the album CD's would consist of any unreleased tracks recorded for that album, but not used, and also live material from the corresponding tour.

That alone would be a stellar box set. Throw in a DVD of Oakland 81 and it would be the best box set ever released.

And if they REALLY wanted to get this out there and sell a zillion copies the first week, they would follow the Garth Brooks price point plan.

When he released his "six pack" as a box set, he priced it at around $30. Of course he only had 2 new tracks per disc. With 8 full 80 minute discs (the expanded 6 + the early stuff) they could easily price this box at $45 and watch every fucking store in the US sell out their supply in the first week.

The Police released "Message In A Box" 4-CD set.:

It'd be great to have something like this from Van Halen. Plus some video footage.

I think it's scheduled for 2025. Date may be subject to change, though.

                        Cheers! :bottle:

it would make too much sense to issue expanded remasters, dvd's and a box set...

unfortunatley that's not how it works on howdy doody mountain
