Wolfie says he's too young to tour

EDDIE VAN HALEN's Son WOLFGANG: 'I'm Too Young' To Tour With VAN HALEN - Apr. 7, 2007

Wolfgang Van Halen, the 16-year-old son of VAN HALEN guitarist Eddie Van Halen and the projected replacement for VH bassist Michael Anthony, has told People magazine that he isn't disappointed there will be no VAN HALEN tour this summer following his father's decision to check himself into rehab. "My dad's taking care of himself," he said. "I also think I'm too young for the experience, because I know there are a lot of bad things out there."

Eddie Van Halen issued a statement addressed to fans in early March announcing that he was seeking treatment because "at the moment I do not feel that I can give you my best.

"That's why I have decided to enter a rehabilitation facility to work on myself, so that in the future I can deliver the 110 percent that I feel I owe you and want to give you," the statement said.

Back in January, Eddie Van Halen told Rolling Stone magazine about Wolfgang, "Wait until you hear this kid play. I pick him up from school every day and we jam. We've got a shredding bass player now that's laying down the law for Alex [Van Halen, drums], so I get to weave in and out."

VAN HALEN was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in March.

It's really sad when the kid becomes the father figure.

All kidding aside, hopefully this is coming from Wolf and not anyone else. He's old enough to know his family history. He knows his dad's in rehab. If his dad has any sense and learns from his own mistakes, he won't make another one by bringing his kid on tour. Ed really needs to clean himself up for good this time. And if he's gonna do it right, it's gonna be a hell of a lot more than 28 days in rehab. If he's going to go out on tour and stay sober, then it's gonna be quite some time before Ed's at that stage. Recovery is a life long commitment and from the looks of it, it's now or never for Ed. Going on tour now would be a huge mistake, as much as we want to see it.

Yea we all would like to see Ed at his best of course...maybe, just maybe he can not only clean himself up for his kid, but for himself which is really the most important...and stay that way

            Ah well......

            Who knows?

Maybe the extra time will improve his abilities....maybe he'll be a BETTER background vocalist than MIKE before they hit the road?!?:p

I remember Ed saying a few years back that he wanted Wolfie to be the singer when his balls dropped

This is probably the best news I've heard.

Yes I was willing to go see them with the kid, but that was the only way you would see Ed and Dave together. I still maintain that those two are where the magic is. However, I stated the whole time that seeing the original four would be ther preferred scenario. The situation has now changed, no Wolfy...Ed's drying out, and they need a bassist. Here's their opportunity to go out and finally do something right. It would bring legitimacy to a reunion, and MAYBE some respect.

Wow, a Van Halen who actually makes some sense.

Prediction: Ed sobers up and listens to his kid, calls Bassplayer , records new album, tours the world.

Bingo , Van Halen is relevant again.......

Then Mike's back in, and Dave's out again and guess who's singing? Wolfie.

Funny, I don't recall Wolfgang saying that three months ago. Wonder who filled him his lines? Mom?

Only reason he's "too young to tour" all of a sudden is because the tour is not happening and probably never will at the rate things are going.

Anybody still fooling themselves thinking that Ed won't fall back into raging alcoholism the very second he gets out of rehab, anyway?

...so apparently Van Halen has no bassist, no real PR, no real management, a guitarist in rehab, an absent lead singer, no record label, no touring plans, and no album in the works. Hey, it's a lot to be happy about, I know...

Interesting how the father figures out he's too fucked up to tour AFTER posing for the publicity photo, and the son figures out he's too young to tour AFTER posing for the publicity photo...

Do these fuckwits put one scintilla of thought into anything they're going to do?

Not that I wanted to see the kid with band anyway, but this sounds like mommy talking. If not, than it's definitely one 16 year old who grew up way too close to mommy.

"oooh. there's a wot of scary wary bad things out there!" Yeah. Sure is. You might actually get to see a vagina...other than your Uncle Al, that is.
