Life & Times Of Van Halen

FIRST INTERVIEW at the 5150 STUDIO.

1984 was a productive year for Van Halen?

EVH: The best year we've had, we started to see not just success, but also the satisfaction on what we can accomplish. It was a strong year in every aspect.............

Well there's the proof that the only person who liked I'll Wait is Eddie so those Van Hagar fags can shut the fuck up now about that. Dave, and only Dave, makes that song listenable.

I f**kin LOVED 'I'll Wait'. But I hate to think about what it coulda/woulda been if Hagar sang and added different lyrics.

Never was a fan of either Jump or I'll Wait.

The only tracks on 1984 that get any spin time from me these days are the ones I dug the most when it first came out:

                      Drop Dead Legs
                      Hot For Teacher
                      Girl Gone Bad

and House Of Pain, which is by far my favorite track on the album.
                      Scramby eggs and bacon.

I remember this article, had it at one time. Wish I could put my hands on it today so I could scan and post the rest.

I remember re-reading it right after the split and wondering how Ed could go from being quite complimentary towards Dave, even his solo EP, to lashing out so harshly.

It really didn't add up, and still doesn't.

I didnt feel ed was complimentary to dave. actually I felt after reading that , that he deosnt really dig daves writing at all. IMO dave is the best rock n roll lyricist out there.
