Roth + VH = classic music

Lightening struck in Van Halen for the 1st 6 albums.
Nothing they are going to do will be as good.
I would love to be proved wrong on this cos I loved this band.

How many times can you reinvent yourself and revolutionize an industry?

Roth once said that Hagar was a mediocre talent and he was putting it charitably. It's an extra slap in the ears that some of the best rock players have Bozo on vocals who sounds like he wrote the bulk of his lyrics sitting on the toliet.

Even the worst Roth/Halen album is brilliant. The music is raw, powerful, and unbelievable.

The best career move for Poodlehead was to hook up with VH.
Unfortunately it was the worst move for the rest of us with ears.

Sammy couldn't open for VH when VH was VH. He doesn't cut it. His music sounds like Saturday morning cartoons.

Don't let the Links people throw you. They still believe Mikey from the Life Cereal commercials' stomach exploded from eating Pop-rocks. You can hate them. I don't think it's right. It's like making fun of someone who is retarded.
Looking at fresh roadkill is more interesting than going to the Links and reading posts on what kind of toothpaste do you think Ed uses.
If you like reading ass-kissing dribble, post after post of such mindless nonsense, knock yourself out while your mind atrophies.
If you are visiting from the Links, re-read the last paragraph slowly until you understand it. Wait, your a Sam fan, don't bother. And for the record, he uses Crest...

Stellar post man. "Reinventing" is a nice way of putting it. "Revolutionizing" was done step by step on the VAN HALEN recordings, and hasn't been done to that degree since. Watching the early Sex Pistols' exploitation videos decrying hippies is a prime example, with Zeppelin and a few others in their sites. Then VHI came along and baffled the whole lot of 'em.

Well they are both Warner Brothers entertainment.
            And both are comical.

Halen had great timing, too, even if it wasn't by design.

1978. Right in the peak of the disco craze, with most of rock's leading bands either on autopilot (Rolling Stones) or inactive live (Zep, Who), and virtually every guitar player stuck in a blues pentatonic rut.

Was a perfect window for Halen to zoom through. Really one of the last great straight-up rock bands period, when you come right down to it.

Intensity. Classic Halen had it in spades. Was even able to revive it for those two BOV1 tunes.

Not even sure the original lineup reuniting would be able to recreate that intensity in terms of producing new material....or even in terms of the energy that came across in their live performances. Ed and Al just seem spent.
