you cant go see him just lookign for the voice..you'll wanna kill yourself like i did my first time.

you just gotta go and see the show as a whole...you know..for his persona...stage antics...bla bla...then its fun.

on a technical level, he blows. but can you still have fun? sure.

people on here will say otherwise..that his voice is stellar...bla bla bla...its junk.
Got beef with my comments? Blow me!

Yep. That's the point I was trying to make. I haven't seen Dave live. He should come to Australia! I have, however, heard bits and pieces of a lot of stuff from about 2003 onwards (and a little from before that time) and Dave's voice has improved in the last few years. He's singing more, he has more control, and he really seems to know what he's capable of and what he just can't do.

He's not the Dave of old but he's sounding good these days, IMO.

Even Roger Daltrey is apparently starting to lose his voice a bit. That's quite sad, because I saw The Who in 2004 and his voice was powerful. He managed to hold onto a strong voice longer than most rockers.

Dave is doing it all, other than his solo stuff which was originally in standard, in the key in which it was originally recorded (a half step down to begin with). If he tuned down a further half step, the songs would be a full step, or tone, down from standard, and that would sound odd. It would be noticeable.

Yeah, Sammy has managed to keep most of his voice, but those who claim he hasn't lost anything are kidding themselves. There are notes he can't hit, even when they're a half step down from the originals. (Heard him do Runaround lately?)

Isn't that pretty much how Dave has always been? After the first two or three VH tours, anyway.

Dave is an entertainer. In the old days, he'd miss a lot of the words, but you can understand why when you see him running around and just being Dave. It's the whole package that's entertaining.

Have you actually even been to Los Angeles and seen these guys? Nationally syndicated radio host Howard Stern stated on his show, "The Atomic Punks become Van Halen. It's the total experience, they do Van Halen better than Van Halen themselves!" Furthermore, "Metal Edge" magazine boasts, "Ralph Saenz does David Lee Roth better than Dave himself!"

I think DLR is an amazing personality and one of the most interesting and entertainers of the modern era. However, when it comes to his live show in past years he simply phones it in more times than not. But then again compared to Eddies sloppy playing of late he sound s like an opera singer by way of comparison.

If they all get back together will I go see them just to say I did? Sure. But if I want the real high energy theatrics with a great matching sound I'll go to the Whiskey A Go Go and see the punks like any sane person in LA would do.
