In regard to the Crue, they had some kick ass songs, & a lot of lame songs

They were the big "party" band

But what really made their rep was their offstage antics, not the music

When your snorting mountains of blow, shooting up whiskey to come down, dying of drug overdoses before coming back to life, etc., the music sort of gets lost in the drama

VH was a party band to an extent too, but they pretty much put the integrity of the music first & foremost

THE fact that van halen isnt well known among the under 25 crowd is thier own dam fault .......... eddie and alex have done nothing to preserve thier legacy during thier glory years ..........hell .... bands even older than van halen ,beatles ,rolling stones ,the doors are more well known than van halen ,not just the name but thier songs too . most legendary bands ,have now put out dvds of live shows ,documentary footage ,box sets ..,.... van halen has done nothing but shit on, 1978-1984 .......... its up to us to carry the torch to the next generation .......... im doing my part .......... are you ?

I meant although VH was a party band, they were known first & foremost by their music

Bands should be known by the real "party", the one onstage

Most people knew about the Crue's insane antics offstage rather than their music. & THAT was the attraction before the music entered into it

With VH, it was the music itself that got people interested, not the "booze & babe train" that Roth was fond of saying

Ed can`t face touring with Dave, so no wonder there`s no announcement. I think Ed`s long term plans are to tour with Dave for 40 dates, for closure on the Dave thing. Then he will try to tour with both Sam and Dave together shortly after. Ed wants to milk the fans for every dollar he can before he retires.

Any KID under 20 thinks VH is a top 40 Rock band from the 90's and perhaps they know who the members are(doubtfull)...... but in reality if they are not studying music they probably have no Idea of CVH.

Ban Hagr !!!! only has two hits that get air.

If the KID ain't listening to rock stations they may have no clue of CVH?

If Dave did rejoin It would boost the whole world of rock, old ,new and
future, into the mainstream lotsa bucks in that for the Industry.

Plus if I figure this rite some great New Music,Live shows, T-shirts etc.....

when I am sitting in a public place (say waiting for someone or something) I play a little "people watching" game called "Roth or Hagar". As strangers walk by, I will point them out and my kids and I will speculate as to whether they are Roth fans or Hagar fans.

....its friggin' hilarious at times...my kids get it completely.... :D
