Why No Summer Tour this year?

Why isn't Dave hitting the road this summer?, he always has past years, is he waiting for the brothers to call about the Reunion, or just taking the year off from touring solo?

This had occured to me as well, but without anyone breaking the silence we are not going to have anything like a definitive answer.

We'll just be stabbing in the dark like usual.

I doubt he'd want to take a year off, seems to me that it must have something to do with VH...

Heh....I must simply say that the Van Halen crowd are the most uncommunicative bastards in the history of A-list rock bands.

I'd say its safe to assume that Dave is waiting for a communique to come down from Howdy Doody Mountain.

              the man

David is busy working with his old comrades - bonding, working, working- we know his work ethic. When Dave wanted John 5 to record the DLR band album (and my good friend Mike Hartman- God Rest His Soul), sessions started at 6:00 a. Peace to all the VH'ers- Full Bug Baby!

When Dave is quiet..then there's something going on... I take it as good news... If it were over, then Dave would be giving out interviews like candy.
Three time witness to the comeback of the MIGHTY VAN HALEN. And then they faded back into obscurity.

                  Full Bug my ass...

It was John Lowrey who approached Dave initially...

He was a Van Halen freak like the rest of us and had written some material he thought Dave would like...

He contacted Dave's management with the idea of jamming and possibly more...

Dave invited him to stay and hang out, and the result was DLR Band...

                  Something like that...

Dave realizes if he does another Ribfest, with another guitar player raping the classic VH material, he's gonne be on Ed's shitlist for life.
He wants the damn reunion even more than you or i do.
Right now, it's all about patience & Dave has it in spades.
DLR is awaiting his master's command....

I keep waiting for someone to say to John Lowery:
"Brother, your a talented musician, but your also 34 years old...
Leave the rebellious, angsty clown makeup at home & act like a feaking adult, already!"

More like Dave is waiting for Mr. Fingers to sober up long enough to remember how to play all those classic songs he wrote.

Perhaps Dave should send his Ribfest guitarists over to 5150, to give Ed a refresher course.

Nah, they never played the shit right anyway.
It's like a bunch of guys at Guitar Center trying to fill the void.
Ed, on his worst day, could outplay any of 'em.
The only guy who captured Ed's raw spontanaeity & reckless abandon was MR. Russ Parrish, late of the Atomic Punks.
                          He got it.
It's more than just playing the right notes.
It's about feel, tone & making it all look & sound effortless.

                            Right, Lowery, not Lowrey...:D

I kinda agree with the clown makeup stuff, but on the other hand if it was something really cool, i'd be all for it...

                            He's really awesome though...

I totally reccomend to anyone who hasn't checked out one of his solo releases to get one...

His latest release The Devil Knows My Name is really good and worthy of a listen by any classic Van Halen fan...

John is also featured along with Steve Vai on Bat Out Of Hell III which I haven't heard yet, and has very mixed reviews; mostly poor, but I don't trust that crap anyway...

                              John rips for sure...
Supremely talented, and yeah, i even liked the dLR Band stuff (grudgingly, though).
                              But the dang Manson makeup?
                              It's distracting.
The only cool mofo in full-on makeup was the mighty Space Ace Frehley!
