How anyone could be upset by such news or rumors is beyond me; Ed showing Dave the door and rehiring Hagar is something one would expect of Eddie these days.

I'd sooner expect that than a full-length album of new material from Roth and the Van Halens.

For all my bitching prior to the tour, I went and saw a show.

Roth was in good form. Alex played well. Wolfie was buried in the mix. Ed wasn't anything special anymore; didn't play particularly well at times and stumbled around like he was drunk.

Seeeing Van Halen in 1984 was one of THE concert experiences of all time for me, and that wasn't even CVH's best tour, either.

Van Halen 2007-2008 turned out to be a slightly overpriced decent night out.

Bit sad, but that's what the band touring now represents to me.

I'd just as soon see Dave hook back up with Brian and the Chinaman and hit the road solo-style again than see another go around of the Classic Van Halen Greatest Hits Jukebox Experience.

Here's the thing that I learned from it at the end of the day.

The show I saw 25 years ago is still etched clearly in my mind...

The only reason I remember the show in Greensboro is because of the members of the Army that rolled.

It was a great show, but at the end of the day, it made me realize that Van Halen, as an entity today, isn't something that I want to remember.

Classic VH...that band that used to blow up entire towns...it died in 1985. Everything after it was tainted by spED's fucked up life.

Christ, now the only time you hear about spED is when Val is talking about how he pals around with her new man. Really spED. REALLY?

David isn't out of the band at all. He's IN! He's decided not to sing anymore. He's going to sit next to Alex and bang the gong.

Sammy is also in. He's not singing either. He's shadowing Ed with his own guitar that's not plugged in.

Patty Smyth is also in. No, not singing. She's going to just stand there holding up a white sign that says "THE WARRIOR."
