I think Dave would be smart to stay clear of any possible reunion. At least until this thing fizzles out. Id like to see an unreleased material album of all the demos cleaned up, plus a few new tracks. I dont think they have the juices to tour the world again though.

Well, here's what I'd really like to see:

The classic lineup taking whatever time is needed to write an album's worth of new material that, if nothing else, smacks of some serious effort. Wouldn't be expecting Fair Warning 2, but MWM and CTSNM were interesting enough in their own right that I was curious to see what else they could come up with along the lines of NEW material. Would like to see an outside producer other take care of the production chores, but the music and lyrics should be strictly a band effort (that doesn't include Geln Ballard).

Would like to see a tour follow. 2 hours per show is reasonable. No bass or drum solos. 10 minute solo spot for Ed. Dave has done a good job of keeping the inbetween song raps to a minimum the last several years. Just serve up about 20 to 25 songs, emphasizing the new material.

Would be interested in hearing/seeing boots for a classic reunion tour even if it was oldies only, but am not gonna shell out serious money to go see that. Have already seen the classic lineup live, and doubt they're gonna do any more justice to their back catalog now in concert than they did 20 years ago when they were kicking ass.

But I'd hope Dave would approach the reunion with an eye on quality. I mean, if Ed and Al aren't up to it and it's just gonna be a half-assed going through the motions effort, then Dave should just put that effort into convincing Ed and Co. to producing a comprehensive classic box set with the emphasis on live and unreleased videos and audio.

I'd love to see Roth rejoin the band, but not unless it's gonna be spectacular. Because that's the benchmark classic Van Halen set for themselves. A phenominal rock band, and anything less is gonna be a letdown.

I think this is an easy subject to have mixed emotions about. As far as a reunion tour, I think alot of people would like to see it, and since we haven't, we can fool ourselves into thinking that each and everyone of us could see 1980 all over again-but it ain't gonna happen for us or them and everyone would be dissappointed regardless. I enjoyed Terrys post and here is a quote from that.

That is also what I would like to see. That and the rift between them repaired. Even if they got back together and produced an all new album of songs of the quality of MWM and CTSNM, there is gonna be controversy. Thats what the site if fueled on. Thats the name of the game. And if such an album was less than stellar, regardless of individual performance on that album, Dave would rock, and the other three would be to blame because this is a Dave site, and we like it that way.

I believe something special came out of 2000. Even if not completed. Ive heard rumours of anything from three songs to an albums worth. Even if they could reconvene and finish that material off properly would be great. If Dave said it was good stuff, you know it was real Van Halen.
