the bassplayer situation shouldn't even be an issue...

when asked about it yesterday dave came right out and said "this isn't a reunion, this is a new band playing some of your old favorites..."

would i like liked to see the original in aciton? yes. but when dave put the statement like that, the MA issue should be no more...

Didn't Dave mention in his book that the Van Halens were looking to replace Samsauceablowski a long time ago?

What? Another Van Halen that can play an instument? Imagine that?

Here's the best way to look at it:

Dave said this is a brand new band.
The last band he starting with Eddie back in the 70's was the best band in the world. This one should be pretty good too.

Erasing Mike from the album covers is incredibly childish and stupid.

Wolfgang Van Halen is on the cover of an album that was released more than a decade before he was born.

If anybody has ANY doubt whatsoever that Ed has been the problem all these years, those people just can't be convinced.

Mike really seems like a nice guy. He seems to actually care about the fans. He's probably better off not being involved with the brothers at this point.

I love Van Halen's music, but I'm starting to become slightly ashamed of the childish behaviour of EVH and, to a lesser extent, AVH. I'm less and less keen on the idea of wearing my EVH T-shirts...

Whenever I feel some excitement over the reunion of DLR, EVH, and AVH, I'm quickly reminded of the crappy way Mike has been treated. I can appreciate Dave's comments about this being a "new band" but, if that's the case, why not treat Mike with some respect? Sure, Dave said "Mike's a part of Van Halen's history" or something, but so what? That's about the least he could have said.

Has anybody else noticed how EVH seems to get top billing now, too? In all the official VH stuff he seems to be the first name mentioned. He clearly believes this is "his" band. This is the guy who has ranted endlessly about "lead singer disease."

I've always defended Dave more than most, saying he's not as desperate as people think, etc. I was wrong. I have more respect for Dave than I do EVH but, I must admit, I've lost some of that respect.

Dave deserves to play with Van Halen again. This just isn't really Van Halen. I'm glad Dave will be in big venues again. This whole thing just doesn't feel right, though.

            Jesus christ people.

It was only on a website. A page that is used to promote the tour.

Wait for the full site in Sept.

Its not like the CDs will be changed.

I think one of the reasons Ed can't stand Mike is because Mike didn't call him up when (I think) his mother died or something of the sort.

I'm starting to think now that Mike is not in this picture - on his own accord. Granted be that he doesn't get along well with Dave, but now also being on the outters with the brothers it certainly sounds like a lonely proposition for him if he was considered to join the tour. Perhaps if Ed didn't burn his bridge with Mike over the past few years it might be different?

                      Ha!

They put Mike's image back on the website. I wonder who gave the word...

Keeping Mike's image off the website would be acceptable imo, but intentionally removing his image from classic VH album art and replacing it with an image of Wolf was a dumb move.... very childish indeed.

Let's not forget Mike Anthony was Van Halen's bass player for nearly 30 years.

There was definitely some re-thinking going on. They caught wind of a lot of bitching and rightfully so....

In terms of Mike throwing barbs at Ed in the press after the 2004 tour, according to Anthony neither of the Van Halens wanted him on the tour in the first place, so it really would have served him no purpose to have kept quiet about Ed's behavior anyway...

Only reason I can see MA wanting to be there this year is the $$$. It's not like he really has any working friendships left between Roth or the Van Halens, anyway. They all share a history together, but that's about all Anthony has in common with the others now, that being a past.

It'd be astonishing if this reunion (regardless of what Roth wants to call it, it is what it is) bears anything fruitful after the tour is over.

The only reunion we have is between Dave, Ed and Al, period!

So Ed wants to play with his son, so be it!

I like the fact they want to record music as this new unit once the tour is completed, if they get that far.
