Didn't you get the memo: Ed is already dead. Through the magic of animatronics two tech guys from ILM now control his corpse.

Maybe they're both being smart and not taking that route. They know that we, the fans would see it as contrived if they're not really working together and only meeting up on stage...

I wouldn't say Ed is finished. More like rust never sleeps and w/ close to 5 years of down time he's got some rust working. I would expect to see his chops return as this tour progresses.

I agree, but it seems to be the truth, not a sarcastic remark.

In all seriousness, Eddie doesn't look healthy.

For this instant on the Eddie issue and his appearance, I'm going to choose to live in denial for awhile.

And of course you played the part of Waldo, which is dead on. It wasn't even acting for you.

Pretty much the one thing I respected about EVH through the 1996 debacle is when he said if Van Halen were ever to tour with Roth again, they'd have to write and record a new album first. EVH made it clear that he didn't want to do a nostalgia tour.

It's a forward-looking approach to making music, rather than being stuck in a perpetual time warp a la The Rolling Stones. And as much as I wanted to see VH reunite and play those classic songs in 1996, I again had respect for Ed in saying he didn;t want to do a remake/rehash tour. Too many fuckin' classic bands out there already beating a dead horse into the ground going that route.

Plus, you kinda had to admire the balls it took not to take the cash grab with Roth in 1996 and go with Cherone, even if half of that decision was based on Ed's ego/thinking his talent was enough to supercede the legend of the classic lineup and a bit of denial. Ed did what he wanted to do.

Now, Ed doesn't even have that stubborness going for him, No sense of the future. Partly through his own missteps and bad choices, partly due to fate, Van Halen are now just another nostalgia act cashing in on memories because there's no drive and sense of purpose to create anything new (and don't get me started on the three new tracks. Nothing more than a ploy to move a few units of BOV2).

This tour, in effect, is telling me that even Van Halen are finally realizing their best days are behind them.

                              Ed's done, it's no secret!

Eddie as a guitarist should've got his act together BEFORE hitting the stage!!! He's done more in the last month to ruin his reputation than any other guitarist I can think of has done EVER! His son's kickin' his ass onstage, he can't play the songs right, he gets lost during solo sections, he meanders AIMLESSLY around the verse parts... SHIT! Dave wouldn't put up with this BULLSHIT, and neither would I!! Unprofessionalism is running RAMPANT in Ed, and it's destroying what's left of a legend!! And with shitheads paying 100+ dollars to get in and see this TRAVESTY is JUST FUCKING MIND BLOWING!!! Who would've thought that in the year 2004, the ONLY solid performance in VH would be Mikey?!?!!!?? It's fucking RETARDED what Ed's done, and it makes NO SENSE whatsoever!! Dave is the ONLY guy that can get Ed back in shape, cuz God knows Hagar can't(or won't) do it, Ed can't do it by himself, and Alex could really give a fuck... Fuck the whole crew of them, and every SHEEP IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
