Ah...the old "word has it" post. :D Of course they aren't hugging and kissing each other every day like they were at the press conference. That is Sammy and Mike's job.
The person I get info from works for them. He hasnt been wrong in anything he's told me so far. He didnt say it was impossible , just that it isnt set in stone. Theres a lot of factors involved here that people dont know.
They dont get along as much as they portray, there are money needs that are inspiring this tour, and Val is VERY leery about her son doing this. One slip up and he's pulled. Once they get their finances in order will they continue to be able to justify standing each other?
Those are things that are a REAL question right now, and this 25 is a test to see if these obstacles can be overcome. If not these might be the only dates all of us will get to have a chance at.
Upon hearing this, compared to what they acted like on stage, Id rather know than not that I better get my ass somewhere to see them since they havent said a date close to me.
Optimistic? Id love for them to continue forever, tour cd ,new vidoes a live dvd with old concert footage, etc, etc
Reality? There are REAL concerns and this is a trial.
So advice from an inside guy should be heeded.

last time they toured in 04, they added Dallas a little later in the tour, Atlanta, and Houston also, i really dont think they will skip the entire south, maybe after the December 11th date they are gonna take a Christmas New Years break, then pick back up with a second leg In January, hope soComment

In NYC there's six open dates at MSG around 11/13 as the Knicks & Rangers are on the road and about 4 open at the Meadowlands in NJ as the Nets are away and the Devils don't play there any more. So I would think they would add at least one more show at each venue, especially being in a major market. When the shit hits the fan, close your mouth and duck.Comment

If we assume the money grab angle then the current schedule needs to be filled with added dates. 3-months (Oct, Nov, Dec - essentialy), 90+ days, 25 shows.
It makes no sense from the fiscal side to have a 5 night layoff 4 shows into the tour (Philly Oct 1, Toronto Oct 7), not to mention the other layoffs.
You fill those dates and make the $$$.
5 nights off, lets say 3 shows, average gross $2,000,000 a show (20,000 seats at an average of $100 a ticket). They stand to lose a hefty net profit.
Good sources or not. It makes no sense.

PS - Not to mention the merchandise sales. I have no estimates on those.Last edited by m_dixon1984; 08-17-2007, 07:11 PM.Comment

yeah it probably is the weather. get the north knocked out before the snow season hits.
Then come down to tropical Tampa and we'll have a stadium show and it'll be just like a summer tour. With short shorts and titties out everywhere.
Or they get in a fistfight onstage in Philly and I never see the dynamic duo live.
Only time can tell.gnaw on itComment

The Van Halen 2007-08 "Hide Your Ego Tour"....
I really don't think they should hit it as hard as they did back in '82-83. That could kill somebody their age.
25-40 dates should be enough. Then make a record.
Ed hasn't been sober long enough for that kind of a road trip.
Too risky.
I wonder how the Wolf plans on sneaking the poon past his ol man?
