        Bluestreak.
Regarding the choice of premiere. Have you heard the bootleg from Charlotte Feb 1 1984?! The crowd is mental. I 'd like to think that is the reason. I guess there are other logistic and practiacal reasons too but... listen to the show. Wow!

I moved over to the Crowne Plaza downtown in Charlotte so that I can get out of the truck and be done for the day once I get my drinking shoes on.

Here's a cheap one that will probably run about $40.00 a night. Its no frills and there may be someone sketchy in the room down the hall, if you're worried about that type of thing. Most likely there will be lots of people in town for the concert staying at this hotel.

Greensboro, NC about 1 mile down the street from the show. Straight shot, no turns...'till you're at the gate.
Pojo and I stayed there a few years ago for Kiss/Aerosmith.... Basic hotel, basically a bed and a shower....

Decent few titty bars right next to the arena also....

Check to see if Crank County Daredevils are playing while you are there. They are from around that area so you never know. Good guys. They like to party HARD!

Hyman, the Sheraton looks fine but seems unavail on the first night. I'll check again.

What's the nicest area for bars and clubs in Greensboro? Close to the arena or far? Is there a downton area like in Charlotte...?

Thanks again for your support of a fellow Van Halen fan!

The Arena is in Downtown. It's only a few blocks from the hotels I recommended above.

Thanks for the compliments on my photos.

You probably better get started on those in Charlotte. A lot of the downtown hotels are filling up. The Crowne Plaza still has some rooms and it's less than 1/2 mile from the arena.

What's up, J. I'll try to post some more hotels around lunch time today (right now its 7:00 AM EST and I have to work soon).

As far as the bar scene in GSO, its pretty lame. Police are everywhere so be safe. Off the top of my head, there are no good bars right near the arena, except one decent titty bar where you might see one or two cute girls and a room full of what we call in North Carolina "trailer trash".

There is a decent downtown scene but its a few miles from the arena and its mostly kids (more trailer trash, wiggers and frat/sorority types).

I hear about a new place called "Much" on Elm Street (downtown) that is supposed to be for the more mature crowd, but I can't vouch for it. Another downtown bar to check out may be "The Rhinoceros", although I haven't been there in years.

"Cafe Europa" on the other end of downtown GSO is pretty cool and they have good food too.

Unfortunately, you will probably not be impressed with the Greensboro nightlife. You kind of have to make your own fun without regard to the lameness of the scene there.

Hopefully, we will be able to meet up and I can guide y'all around - then it can be more spontaneous instead of you guys having to look up google maps on your ipods when you realize the bar you are in sucks! LOL.
