Basically a bunch of interviews with people loosely connected with the band during the early years, but there's no audio music or live concert footage on it all.

If you're into classic Van Halen bigtime, it's worth a look. If you're a casual fan, I'd give it a pass.
I'd concur with that, I'd say absolutely grab one....

Don't look for any bootlegs or things like that...

But what it does show is, by way of the interviews, how good these guys were at such a young age....

      I would definitely recommend it.

Lots of background info from the road crew guys who went to high school with CVH...
Without DLR in the lineup, Van Halen is merely Rat Salade...

        Thanks for the tip, VA...

The only thing that I'd consider to be lame on there is the "Van Halen museum", where the guy had a few items of VH memorabilia...

I know there are people on this site with better collections than that guy....

The DVD was OK. But for a starved CVH fan, it was a failure. It was an unauthroized DVD. Warner should stop fucking around and release some good shit.

Only a single photograph towards the end of the doco.

I think it's worth a look, especially if you can get it at a cheap price. Great stories from the early days told by fans, roadies, techs, Mark Stone (original bass player), Ed Anderson (Roth's bodyguard), etc.

WTF? Are the people at Amazon total idiots and there's no connection between the bridge drone troll and the DVD or do I not want to get this DVD at all?
In a word - YES! It's better than ANYTHING and EVERYTHING that Ed & Al have put out.

A blank tape would be better than their efforts.

There was some brief footage of Mike's intro into RWTD at Largo '82 and Eddie's guitar solo of what looks to be way back in 1978, which I've never seen before. There is other live footage which I can't confirm where it's from.
