He has risen to the occasion in the past when he's had something to prove.

Can't say I was bowled over with Diamond Dave, and his latest round of live shows smack of repetition, hovering dangerously close to auto-pilot.

Maybe Hagar fronting Halen this summer will give Dave another shot in the arm and cause him to produce something special, or at least another full length album of slamming original rock tunes.
