I think Ed's current playing is embarrasing...
The solo on 'It's About Time' is really bad.. It sounds like a kid doing a Van Halen lick...
The playing on this last song is a little more like it.. but oh man.. the playing on those rehersal clips is enough to make me want to puke...

Its a concept that is gaining popularity quickly. EVH is not good enough to play alongside Dave anymore. Hopefully this tour might give him some practice and bring him up to speed ?? You listen to all the old Van Halen stuff and there is this undeniable feel to the songs with Ed's playing, I just dont get this at all with any of these songs, I agree that Learn to See is the best of the worst.. But still way short of anything from the classic era. Im wondering if these songs would have been included on Balance ?? If they were recorded at the time. Balance had the best sound quality of any of the Van Hagar albums...However, 5150 is the best album with Sammy fronting the band. If they remaster it, I'd gladly buy it again, just to hear the differences
But to me, fucking OU812 was the worst album of that era.
In fact, I think Ed's playing on the new tunes is better that it was on that entire album.
I can't even listen to OU812..
I'll take the 3 new tracks over that entire album ANY day.I like to pay close attention to the things I'll forget later...Comment
