Did anyone who saw Page/Plant live in 1995 and/or 1998 miss John Paul Jones?

You are correct, sir! I was shocked! If you recall smelling shit when they went into Hots On For Nowhere, that would have been emanating from my drawers! LOL

I also enjoyed Your Time Is Gonna Come and the BLAZING solo on Shapes Of Things!

To cover for MA: A 16 year old kid who's never been in a band before and has the live experience of a bread crumb.
And they didn't dare call it Led Zeppelin...

The fact that they never tried to replace a member that died. Granted he was maybe THE member, of the band. But this shows that they had some cognisance (something no one would begrudged them for doing - like I don't begrudge the Who for trying to replace Moon. But how does one replace BONZO?) of their legacy and what made them great...

Ed is very much a man that must enjoy sequels and imagines that they have a new found spontaneity of their own. But news to Ed, Jaws 4 sucked...

Excellent point! They did technically call themselves that for the Atlantic 40th Bday but then again it could have been Ahmet Ertegun being liquored and forgetting what year it was.

Jaws 4 DID suck. It was also "personal".

I always find a way to miss Plant on tour three times out of four, and Plant/Page was no exception, but I have just about every MP3 from 'Pictures At Eleven' to 'Mighty ReArranger'. Got some good shit from JPJ's 'Zooma', although it's a little repetitive. There's only so much you can do trying to play lead on bass without getting too Spinal Tappish. :D

A friend of mine who is in a band that I won't mention had the honor of having dinner with Jonesy. A very kool and easy to get along with person with a ton of Zep stories, monster musician as well for sure.

Yes, Jonesy is totally cool! I met him in Austin, TX at the SXSW festival in '91. He was in a hurry so I didn't get to spend too much time but did get his autograph. I caught him coming off the elevator. Very cool guy. No ego.

Thanks, Hyman! Will they ever release a full dvd set list from Knebworth? Or for that matter Earls Court. Anyway, nice vid.

Yeah - something in that song always gets me! Check out Veoh.com - they have some good Zeppelin there you wont see on YouTube. The search engine sucks so you might have to sift through it a bit - but its worth it.

Now, granted, I'm not a drummer, but I never really "got it" when it came to Bonham. Ok, he's a good drummer, I get the point. *Fast Forward through Moby Dick* I really couldn't give a shit. I watch Unledded the Page/Plant tour, etc. the drums sound just fine to me. Yeah, I wish he was still alive and well and hell, even playing in Led Zeppelin, but he's not, and I don't feel as if I missed out in that respect, really. Robert Plant is #1 most important to me. His voice... his different directions he takes every time and his constant reinventing himself is most important. A close second is Jimmy Page who keeps Plant's sometimes meandering ideas real with his blues-based heavy guitar rock. And a close third is of course JPJ. I don't overlook his contributions at all. He tied it all together and made it legendary whereas without him it would have only been amazing. But people hail Bonham as if the band would have sucked without him and that he IS LED ZEPPELIN like Dave is Van Halen. And I just don't buy it. I'll take any adequate drummer and be just fine.

I respect your opinion, however, I have to ask you. Have you seen Moby Dick on Led Zep DVD in surround Sound. I have never seen a better drummer.

I've seen it on the DVD, yes, but no, not in surround sound. I can't afford them nice fancy gizmos. I done spent all my pennies on that thar Van Halen band.

You know I'd wager to say that if you walked into a room full of drummers, and said you didn't see what was so great about John Bonham, you'd have an ass kicking like you've never had before. :D

Bottom line Bonham was a fucking ROCK. His timing was PERFECT. Plus, he did shit on one kick drum that most drummers would have to have two to do. Oh and he had the tone that all drummers want. :D When Bonzo kicked in, it was like a sledgehammer to the head.
