as far as i'm concerned, wolf doesn't have to be amazing for me to be happy.

i'm not going into the concert thinking that the bass playing will be groundbreaking (in van halen, it's not supposed to be.) nor am i overly concerned about the backing vocals. (it's a live show, i'm not going for pro-tooled up, album-quality vocals.)

now, will i be as happy as if it were a full reunion? no. but for now, a reasonably sounding 3/4 will definitely do.

Now that's a full-throated endorsement if I've ever heard one!

Textbook definition of the term " meh "

I'll say it again, because I'm fucking lazy and the reply box is open.......

It's not MA's chops I'd miss [ if I went], nor his backing vox for that matter...

It's just that I'd like to see after 127 years of spED led drama, infighting, bullshit, backstabbing , ched-stuffed cornrowed mohak wearing how-many-say-I clusterfucking dryhumping my fucking hip moosedrool, that the 4 guys could get it together and show the i-pod wearing, snot nosed generation whyme? what a fucking live rock show USED to be like.

              But no.

              We get Father Knows Best.

Fuck it, I'll be in the bar.

Let me know how the kid does.

If he's good then fine, if not then oh well. I go to see Dave on tour all of the time, and I know this is not the "true" Classic Van Halen without MA, but I am still hoping for a good show. Dave and Ed(hopefully sounding well) on stage together? I'll check it out.

Time will tell, and the whiners can keep on keeping on.

Question: If Ed and Alex can say kick ass, and we know that Dave delivers and the kid is OK will that be enough? Frankly MA was just OK to me anyway.

I just hope it's not an embarrassing mess.

On one hand, I don't want the tour to fail. On the other hand, if it's a success and they decide to make an album, I'm afraid it would suck. The kind of music Ed and Dave are into these days sucks ass. Hopefully that talk of a future was just BS. I don't know what to hope for. LOL

Like I said before, they can do whatever they want. If I'm interested, I'll support it. If not, I won't.

I'm giving the tour a chance because I want to see Ed and Dave on stage together. A kick ass album to follow seems too much to ask for at this point. OK, I'm getting way ahead of myself. One miracle at a time. LOL

As for Wolfie, whatev, who cares? Those who can't lead, play bass. I can't do either, but I can take care of them in rehab. LOL

If Wolfgang can do a decent job on bass, even if he stands there like a mannequin, that's about the best I can expect. Anything more, such as opening up on bass for expected songs like "Light Up The Sky" and "The Full Bug," *and* sing decent back up vocals, I'll be fuckin' floored. I'm going in with an open mind. I can say for certain I will not miss Mike's retarded bass solo. I was so glad they nixed it in '98 and '04 and just let him sing a tune instead.

I will add that even if this was all four original members, it still wouldn't be 1980 - 1982 all over again. Those days are long gone and way out of reach of Dave, Eddie, Alex and yeah, even Mike's abilities in 2007. So yeah, like most other aging band reunions I check out these days, I'm going with diminished expectations, just looking for a couple hours of good live music from one of my favorite bands that I grew up with. If it turns out great, that's a huge bonus. If it turns out to be an epic trainwreck, I don't consider that a loss either. Just enterfuckingtain me.
