I would say it's a small fanbase. All of the Van Halen shows or Roth shows I've seen over the years have very few "African Americans". Actually, any rock show for that matter. Different strokes for different folks.

          Black dudes, you mean?
I've never had a black man call me "That Scottish American Dude."
I hate Political correctness.(rant now over)

I think it's a silly and borderline racist question. Some of my brothers from the other mothers can live without it, some like CVH, and some like the Spam era VH.
What, you never heard of blacksheep?

I can't believe it's the 21st century and people are still asking ridiculous questions like this.

Chuck Berry. Little Richard. Muddy Waters. Robert Johnson.

Rock n Roll wouldn't exist without those guys.

Not to mention Jimi Hendrix. Phil Lynott. Living Colour. 24-7 Spyz. Fishbone. Shit, even the Dead Kennedys had an African American drummer, and he was damn good.

David Lee Roth described himself as a Black man trapped in a Jewish body. He was asked if he stole his scream from Ian Gillan of Deep Purple and replied "Hell no! I stole that scream from James Brown and the Ohio Players, baby!"

And to expand this beyond a black-white thing, let's not forget that David Lee Roth recorded an entire album in Spanish in 1986. What other rock singer has ever done that? Let alone one who is not a native Spanish speaker.

Now on the other hand, Van Hagar was Velveeta on Wonder Bread. No amount of "soul" in that shit whatsoever.

I'd put money on that question having come up during the meetings arranging the tour. Sad but true.

the question is not racist, aa are now the dominant force in the music industry today, and just wondering if vh can have any fanbase from that particular audience.

I think the best time for any black/African-American fanbase was when Eddie was considered to be a great guitarist. Musicians tend to be much more accepting than the general population. They don't care what color or sex you are as long as you have something to say musically.

Remember how many white people accpeted MJ because Beat It had a great solo. Same probably held true for blacks who bought the albums as well.
