That Van Hagar clips is awful. There's no energy in the performance. Basically it looks like they could all give a shit less if they were there...which was probably the case. It's just sad.

Now, if you take the new Van Roth rehearsal clips, then you see the band has a new energy, and Eddie is 1000 times better than he was on the other clip. I'm glad to see Eddie get out of the funk he was in. Maybe it was bringing Dave back, or maybe it was the addition of Wolfgang or both. Either way it is great to see. I also think it is great for Dave too, because some of his last solo performances were a little "blah" to me. It was like he had lost his drive as well. If you look at the Romeo Delight clip there is a power in the music that hasn't existed for any of those guys in oh about 23 years.

Couldnt agree more , Dave looks and sounds like he means business.
After seeing the footage it made me realise DLR still has it.
I though he was just slowing down(DLR slowing down was better than everybody elses best !) but it looks like he was just saving it all up for you lucky fuckers in charlotte come the 27th .

What is even sadder, is I went to the Spammy Van Halen show back in 2004 thinking, I better go just because this might be the only time in my life I get to see Eddie play before he dies.

        Now, I feel really stupid.

I didn't get a tour shirt. I got a teddy bear that says Van Halen on the front, which could be original Van Halen. Notice my avatar.

have you thought about the fact that these are only rehearsal clips? I just watchted them for the zillionst time and when I thought it couldn't get any better I came to think how good must this be with a CVH-crowd being out of its mind...and with that band having played a few shows and not just "warming up"...

Absolutely. There's a whole heap of energy and showmanship that will no doubt erupt when the crowds get behind the boys at the concerts. Dying of jealousy here.

I have a friend who knows the head bus driver for the VH tour.

He told me yesterday that the dates announced so far are all they are gonna do, and then that will be all.

                  Permanently.

Not one to spread rumour, but my friend, while he thinks VH is cool, is not a huge fan, and was just reporting what was told to him.

He has been a tour manager, for many major label artists, and has no reason to lie about it.

Though of course I am hoping he is wrong.

I had not even said a thing about the tour dates, but he said suddenly he thought it strange that they had no dates booked in the SouthEast whatsoever (meaning everywhere from Texas to Georgia).

He simply could not believe they would skip Texas.

I don't think that's true (its possible though).

Initially before the press conference, there was word that this was going to be a 50 city tour.

The first 25 were listed, and that number has now grown to 30

So, I still expect more dates heading into the new year.

I lean towards not believing this, but if it were so, you could say they would be ending on a Bang....Dec. 22 - OAKLAND... (Oakland 1981 always gets a mention, including Dave's CFTH).

I would truly think if they were NOT to begin/finish the 2nd Leg of the Tour, their last performance would be "Home Turf" - Los Angeles. (There is still rumor of Vegas near New Years timeframe.)

Well so far I am going to Philly and NYC, so if this is true, then I am glad I get to attend 2 shows.

i don`t believe that rummour at all. If there are no future plans after the 30 dates, they would release a new record to coincide with the tour, to cash in. Dave would not agree to play a few farewell concerts.
