    Imitators of Classic Van Halen

Watched "Top 40 Hair Bands" on VH 1 last night.

Clips of Vintage VH were shown alongside BulletBoys and White Lion. Obviously, Dave & Co influenced more than just these two groups.

As we all know, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. That said, has any group ever been accused of trying to flatter Van Hagar with imitation?

    *crickets chirping*

    Anyone?

Hollywood Jesus... "Mrs. Robinson, you're trying to seduce me."

PS - Van Halen was not on the list. Poison was No. 1. Nice hair, CC.
    "Float like a butterfly. Sting like a B-52." - DLR=VH=
"Rejoice in the wife of your youth. May her breasts satisfy you always." Proverbs 5:18-19.

They influenced BulletBoys and White Lion. Who gives a fuck, you can find them on VH1 as well on the show "How in the fuck were these bands ever popular".

No one has even tried to imitate Van Hagar because they can't. It's like trying to imitate Zeppelin or Pink Floyd, it is impossible. Anyways Mark Tremonti was influenced by Van Hagar and he is one of the best guitarists out there regardless of what you think about the band he was FORMERLY in.

OK, let's see him do "So This Is Love?" or "I'm The One".
Why settle for something you have, if it's not as good as something you're out to get?

They influenced a lot of adult contemporary artists............Celine Dion cites Van Hagar as a MAJOR influence, though I know thats hard to believe as Celine's music is MUCH heavier!

Comparing Van Hagar to Zeppelin or Pink Floyd is a complete fucking joke.

Although those David Gilmour solo albums that cashed in on the Pink Floyd name after the real band broke up, might actually fit.

No Van HALEN without Dave, No Floyd without Waters, No Zeppelin without Bonzo. At least Page & Plant did the right thing and let the name rest.

                  No one copied Van Hagar

But you could argue that Van Hagar copied Sammy Hagar.

Also Van Hagar sound a lot like bad Boston.

The point was, douchebag...er...dysfunction, that I'd love to see/hear that "from-gentle-arpeggios-to-power-chords, no-balls-in-his-less-than-30-sec-solos" mo'fo' take a stab at those songs. If you couldn't see that, you've just proven to yours truly (and other people on this forum) that you're just fuckin' blind.

Zeppelin and Floyd are legends. Honestly, all bullshit aside, do you REALLY think Van Hagar will go down as legendary? People don't even really give a shit now. No matter what happens, Classic VH will ALWAYS be remembered as one of the greatest rock bands ever. Sammy Hagar is a fuckin' footnote, and always will be. FACT.
