It only sucks because we can't afford them. (By "We" I mean the typical Roth/VH fan who earns less then $100K per year and has a mortgage or rent to pay...or ex-wife)

If the arenas were half full (remember 2004?) then they are charging too much. But every show has a packed house. They ARE giving people their moneys worth. Charge what the people will pay. This isn't a charity tour. And yeah, I wish the tickets were still $20, beers $3 and a pack of smokes under $2.

I agree, but don't gouge the typical fan by suckin up the face value tix prior to their general public release & scalping them off to the higest bidder!!

I'll be dropping well over a grand on VH by the time this tour closes, & I have no doubt I'll have gotten my money's worth, but how many fan's are saying 'fuck this' because they can't afford to spend $400 for a pair of tix?? Quite a number of them I'd wager....

Think these fans will continue to support an act with such little regard for it's fan base, that $1.5million per date isn't enough, so said act decides to scalp it's own tickets to the highest bidder??

Remember when Pearl Jam took control of distribution/promotion of it's tickets so they could assure their fan base would get to see them live without being ass-raped??

That is how an act earns the right to the unwaivering support of it's fan base!!

Obviously concert tickets weren't going to stay 10 bucks forever, just like albums didn't stay $8.98.

But since Ticketbastard and Clear Channel monopolized the entire concert industry, it has become the most disproportionately overpriced industry on the planet. Even worse than the price of gas tripling since that fucking Chimp invaded Iraq, and that's saying something.

And that's just the "regular" ticket prices. The "legalized" scalpers are simply unconscionable, and for Ticketbastard themselves to be involved in this game has to be illegal, or should be.

As for the band making money off this shit, they no doubt make more from the "5 star packages" and whatever the actual selling price of those are, as they have a contract with that agency, and advertise those packages on the Van Halen website.

But they don't get a dime extra from the ass-raping from stubhub, or e bay, or Ticketbastard auctions.
