Alex in February Issue of Modern Drummer

.VAN HALEN's explosive drummer Alex Van Halen gave an exclusive interview to Modern Drummer magazine about helming the heavy artillery in the iconic band. The extensive 21-page story hits newsstands on February 5.

"As the pounding, aggressive heartbeat of one of the greatest bands in rock history, Alex Van Halen has inspired drummers the world over with his unique sound and style," says Modern Drummer magazine's editor-in-chief Bill Miller.

The article not only features Alex Van Halen chatting with Modern Drummer about the band, the new tour and his equipment, but several exclusive shots of Alex attacking his drum kit.

Cool. I hope the interviewer got some good questions in there. Will be nice to finally hear one of the band say something.

I love me some Alex Van Halen.

      It ain't a lust thing, it's a drum thing.

I think I heard Ed say, between two songs on a boot from this tour: "The best drummer on the planet!"...

Well, Alex is a great drummer, but it really sounds exagerated - too much feeling of brotherhood, certainly...

The first interview of anybody since the LA press conference? Interesting, to say the least!

He's a great rock drummer, no doubt...but the best on the planet? Not so much.

Interesting....will the Sisters only be praising on themselves and Wolfboy?

Wonder if they'll dish any compliments out to their frontman?

Check this drummer out. It's from the early 60's. The late Mel Taylor.

glad to see al getting the press he deserves!

alex has always been way under-rated as a drummer and he proved to me how important he is to the van halen sound at the kansas city show.

as for dave, its pretty much acknowledged by most that roth era van halen is best and dave needs to be at the helm so dave needs no more accolades,he just needs to continue to get out there and perform well (which he has done this tour).

that said alex has still been overlooked too often imo by the music community.

This is interesting. I'm guessing that the interviewer won't have asked any tough questions, but I'm intrigued to hear what Al has to say nonetheless...

Alex deserves some recognition. I always thought he had interesting drum kits, it would be interesting to hear what he has to say as opposed to Eddie.
