HOLY SHIT!!!!

That was one of the worst things I've ever heard. It's not only bad because Sam is butchering it, but also because he's totally singing out-of-tune. Seriously, I sing in a band. I know. This dude is totally out-of-tune.

If I ever read one more comment about how Dave is washed up, I'll punch the person who says it. I've accused Sam of many things, but I've never accused him of singing out of tune until now!!

Also, Ed fucks up the solo completely. He even ends it early.

That sucks.

Al is also not playing it with the same ferocity as on earlier versions.

Oh, and Ed is fucking up the ending. And, as before, they cut out the soft little bit before the end where Dave usually did a small rap.

Well, that sucked. Thank God I'm not going!

Is that the first time that you've ever heard that song slaughtered? Even I have the balls enough to admit that Cherone respected the song and tried to deliver the attitude? Of course he failed but an "A" for effort IMO.

Absolutely, my friend. I totally agree with you. I have the Sydney show from '98 on video from MuchMusic, and at least Cherone tries. He doesn't do any of the material justice, but he damn well really tries with UNCHAINED and MEAN STREET. You can tell the guy is a fun of the stuff. He really sticks to the original lyrics, keeps all the nuances and tries to sound like he means it. Sam is just looking for an excuse to shriek, and he also sounds like he's singing it half-assed and trying to get it done with as quickly as possible. It's just awful.

More and more, ever since I heard IT'S ABOUT TIME, I've been realizing that the Cherone line-up wasn't nearly as bad as I thought at the time. Seriously...there is no only one Van Halen. But as a Van Halen substitute, that album and tour, as bad as they were, at least had some heart in them. It was a band that tried to respect its past and it was a band that tried to put on a good VAN HALEN show, instead of a good cheese festival.

Sam coming back is the worst thing that's happened to the band since...well, since 1986.

I just hope they don't dig out other vintage material on this tour because the guy is really damaging these songs' reputations.

What a bunch of asswipes. Gary sang this tune 100 % better than Sam. Sam ran out of breathe halfway through the song and was not even on key.

Great seeing you here too. This place is amazing. I've lurked here and posted some in the old days here. But I just started posting here full-time and love it. I couldn't take the Forum anymore. I mean, I really don't have an issue with any of the mods or anything. I just can't take all the damn Sam fans. Plus, the people here are hilarious. Seriously...this is some funny shit.
