Van Halen cancels comeback tour for Eddie's treatment

Rock group Van Halen has cancelled a few comeback performances so that guitarist Eddie Van Halen can go back to rehab to be treated for alcoholism.

The band rescheduled two concerts in Virginia and Georgia raising rumours that the tours have been cancelled indefinitely, contactmusic.com reports. Representatives for the band say the tour is on even though Van Halen 'is undergoing a battery of comprehensive medical tests to determine a defined diagnosis and recommended medical procedures'.

Sources say Van Halen decided to check into a rehab after he had a major argument with his 17-year-old son Wolfgang backstage.

An insider said: 'It was the big what-if of the tour - whether Eddie could stay sober. Wolf hates it when his dad drinks. He knew Eddie was drunk that night, and was acting cold to him, which set Eddie off. Eddie went berserk and started yanking guitar cables from the pedal boards and throwing cigarettes around onstage.

'At the end of the concert, Eddie was so mad at Wolf, he punched the amp speaker, knocking it over.'

that was what was going on 2nd show in Anaheim. Wolf was very distant and would scamper away anytime Ed came near it was a killer show but as the night rode on Ed was going too.
When he came out from behind the stage I watched him stunned as he looked at me and kept walking my direction to be in shock having him come stand right next to me in third row outside ramp area. Just as I was gonna shake his hand some crazed Ho next to me started rubbing his back and the security guy watching him grabbed him and yanked him back behind the gates.
He was was clapping his ass off watching Al's solo finale. Short time later while he waited side stage he stopped himself from running out to soon in Ice Cream Man and laughed it off in the shadows. His drinking did not fuck up his playing that night at all it made the show loose like an old time VH show but it was a sign of danger. Only a week before the Vegas fiasco. I knew Wolf was steamed in the early part of that show but it took awhile to see what was really up. But it was really my favorite show of the first leg. Have not been to any this 2nd leg but have great tix for Tiger Vegas show and my wife thinks they make that show even if the tour cancels most the regular dates being a benefit and not letting Tiger down and the charity aspect.

Wouldn't it be some funny shit if Ed threw Wolf out of the band? A lot of drunks choose their liquor over family... I got a few cousins and an uncle that did.
