Van Halen Tattoos.

Seen any that you remember?
What are some ideas for one that is a bit more subtle?

I have two - one on my right shoulder that resembles Ed's "Wolfgang" tat - but mine looks better and says "Van Halen" instead. I also used the blue/green/yellow fade of the colors off the first album on the VH letters. Tha tat I have on my left shoulder is the Van Hagar era logo with a local radio station call numbers below that I got in a promotion that also got me and a buddy backstage to meet the band in '98, along with a pre-show soundcheck....had to do it.

A bit subtle eh? lol In a VH tattoo, I think subtlety is the opposite of what you're looking for. My dad is a huge VH fan, and has his own Eddie Frankenstein styled guitar going down the side of his leg... talk about a sweet tat!

Hey now! God yeah let's verbally bash someone over our own assumptions. My dad and I weren't ever very close... ever. I had seen his tattoo, I knew that it was a guitar, but we never discussed the history of it. The teacher that I had made a reference to earlier is in fact, (just like I said), the one who instilled my love for VH. It was then, after acquiring more knowledge of VH, that I learned of what the guitar tattoo on my dad symbolized. Anything else I can help you understand?

I got mine done when i was 15 or 16 (went with an older mate and managed to not get i'd'd) its the same as eddies but a little bigger on right shoulder.

Im 25 now however and im starting to regret it a little

yeah, thats what im worried about.
like i really want one, but i want one thats a bit more symbolic than anything.
i dont want to look at this big ass VH and wonder what the hell i was thinking

I would never get a VH tattoo personally.

With my luck the day after I got one they would start doing showtunes or get Yoko as the lead singer.

I was thinking the same as you, don't want to look like a fool. So I did the Hammerguy (from the backdrops, tee's, passes etc on the 1984 tour). The ones who knows knows what it's about..

I love it and never regret it. Did it pretty recently; 2006. Looks awesome, perfect circle. On my left shoulder.

It's lacking the yellow outline though and I am thinking of adding that, but making it on fire with flames up on my shoulder..

Would post the image here but I have trouble doing it. Could it be because I am on a Mac with Safari? Never manage to get the image in the message. And, no, I am not a computer illiterate.... So any hints?

YEAH! That's exactly the kind of thing I want. Something that Van Halen fans will know what it is.
