A REAL Van Halen webmaster would.....

I fully realize that Bradman, or whomever the fuck runs vh.com nowadays, is basically hog-tied, other than giving stupid-ass "no news is good news" comments, when it comes to putting VH information out....

But if the VH brothas would ever get their heads out of their collective butt-ocks, and allowed someone to, Heaven Forbid, beam Van Halen into the 21st century, here's some of the relatively easy things they could do to accomplish that....

BTW, we had this discussion at Rothfans a while back, just stirring it back up here as well... Also, a new album and DVD is assumed, just so you know I'm not forgetting about those...
    • A moderated fan chat on their website every once in a while
    • A website that has something other than the BARE, BARE minimum
    • Fan contests
    • Decent Facebook and Myspace pages
    • XM/Sirius "Van Halen Channel" (similar to AC/DC and Metallica channels)
    • Interviews every now and then
    • Free MP3 downloads of "vault" songs

Certainly, you bastards can think of some more....

    Let's hear it.....

In terms of the best out there in Van Halen-related websites, the official Van Halen site isn't even close to the top of the list.

An offical new album and dvd are assumed? With Van Halen these days, I'll believe it when I see it. However, say even IF both are in the works, there's PLENTY the Van Halens could have happening on their site in the meantime.

How many miles of audio tape full of demos, alternate cuts and various miscellania must be sitting in 5150 studios, doing nothing but rotting away? Put some of that on the site for people to listen to.

Or a selection of clips that aren't gonna be used for the presumed official dvd release, available for fans to view?

I'd be willing to bet there are more than a few like myself who don't even bother going to the offical site unless someone on the fan-run sites posts an update about the offical site having new pictures, a new message, or whatever (and how often have either of those things happened in the last several years? a half a dozen times... MAYBE!?).

Dave's official site is hardly much better by comparison.

Makes little sense as to why the Van Halens wouldn't be keeping up with the times. Then again, so little of what the Van Halens have done in the last twenty or so years makes much sense to me anyway; at least they're consistent in that regard.
    Scramby eggs and bacon.

You know I meant "assumed" in that I didn't forget them, you bastard....

            Agreed.

vh.com does very little to promote the band or cultivate and sustain a fanbase....
