Don't think we all like anything and everything Dave has done. I don't agree with the man 100% at all, and think he's made some big mistakes in his career.

To me a "sheep" is someone who goes along with EVERYTHING that the Van Halen Brothers say, i.e., they buy the company line. It cannot be Van Halen no matter who the singer is. To me that is a ridiculous way of thinking. If Led Zeppelin had split ways with Robert Plant and gotten another singer, well that my friend would not still be Led Zeppelin. Call it Van Hagar, or whatever but don't call it Van Halen....and don't forget who suggested the band go by that name in the first place.

For everyone one of those morons that come here and post bald...there is the same number that add nothing but "Spammy Hagar," or "Sam is fat". So there are definitly of DLR sheep on here that bring nothing to the table. It goes both ways.

That other tread is retarded with people bringing up Army members are miserable. But it just goes to point with what I said before...the only Army exposure is the morons who just go to the Links to start shit...so thats all people know so it does make the Army look pretty bad. Thats why I lurk here. I do like all three versions of the band...when i first found VH, Sammy was the singer and it is the version that I prefer since that is what I grew up with. That aint to say that there is anything wrong with DLR years or even the Gary years...all three have highs and lows, but just the one I prefer. I went to the first Philly show and it was great....definitly a packed house, although I have read the second show was not full...about half if I remember right. I'll go see DLR if he ever gets motivated to do anything, although his last disc was garbage...I'll sure go see him live next time he is around

See the Van Halen name thing...why is that such a sticking point. Should they have changed the name? Probably but they didnt so yeah it is still Van Halen no matter who the singer is. Does it matter? To me, no. each version was completly different minus 3/4 of the band...look at what Audioslave is doing now, or even Velvet Revolver. People don't know that name, its always Scott Weiland and the guys from G n' R...or Chris Cornell and the guys from Rage. Name dont mean nothin in my opinion

The fact is that Eddie's musicianship has slid considerably since Roth left in 1985. And as a result, Van Halen's entire sound changed. You would think that if you added a guitarist to a band, they'd be more guitar oriented. But not in Van Halen's case, they became less guitar oriented, less progressive and more poppy fluff sounding. Most people wouldn't remember the fire prowess that the Mighty Van Halen encompassed. When Van Halen came to town, regardless of whether or not you were a fan, you knew they were coming. I'm not exaggerating, there was a 'media rumble' that you could feel everywhere in your hometown, and evidently it was due to Roth's charismatic media charm. Roth ALWAYS verbally complimented Eddie and the boys when doing interviews, and their presence together onstage was equally if not more complimenting. In short, Classic Van Halen was about vibe, something that fans post 1985 just wouldn't understand. So, like lost 'sheep', they continue to buy anything Ed puts out, and defends Ed, regardless of seeing the bigger picture.

So you see, just like sheep, 'Ed-Heads' don't see the bigger picture, don't believe that their leader can do any wrong..or any better for that matter.

Roth fans, on the other hand, are perfectly aware that Roth is just as human as anyone else, but here's the difference: Attitude On Life.
That's it. No smoke, no mirrors, no hocus pocus. Before OR after Roth left VH, HE'S ALWAYS HAPPY! He doesn't blame anyone, and he's the ONLY one of the original 4 members that remembers the good ol' days in a positive light. Eddie barely had anything nice to say about DLR when they were together, and he has since said everything he could think of to put Dave down.

So the question remains, you have one guy who doesn't have much happy things to say about anyone except his brother, likes to depress people with his health issues and general low tolerance to irritability, and his musical prowess, while once was that of a king, is now rapidly declining, noticeably. You have another guy, who despite several setbacks and a few human hit and misses, ALWAYS comes out smiling, whether it be in the studio, on stage, or in an interview. He's human just like the rest of us, but has always lived his own words "I get up, and nothing gets me down".

We Roth fans aren't sheep, we just happen to enjoy happiness over depression.

See I'm not one saying there is anything wrong with being a DLR fan...I dont think any of you are depressed or any of that other crap in that thread. All I am asking is a simple question and getting a bunch of 3rd grade homo-phobic stuff back. What's that about?

VH's music did change and become less guitar driven on some songs, but I think that also had to do with the music climate. A lot of those bands that were guitar driven went away. VH, like it or not, are still around...barely.

I think all of the band members, past & present, aren't the best humans in the world since all of them have bad mouthed each other at some point, minus MA. Ed has bitched about Sam, Dave, M.A., Alex has bitched about Dave, Sam, Dave certainly has bitched Sam and Ed and vice versa. None of them, minus Mike who I cant remember band mouthing anyone, have talked shit so that point isnt really valid.

I will buy whatever ED puts out if it is good...if not, i can spend my moeny elsewhere as can you...but just cause DLR aint on it, doesnt necessarily mean it isn't good
