you know what really is funny if it had been Eddie, alex or Sam or even Mike doin this, half the board would be tearing them to shreads , saying how lame and sad they were but cos its dave its so great.

Daves only doin This and trying to get acting jobs because he cant sell records anymore.

    call it retiring.

Everybody said that Dave was part of this tour. Nobody told me it was bringing people out of shock at the Van Hagar show because they realised what they've done.

If Sam, Ed, Alex or Mike did something like this, then all of the board would be surprised. We know that Ed and co. are all self-centered and still think that they're big musicians and want to carry on a music career they no longer have. We wouldn't expect them to do anything usful like this. But we know Dave is more than just a musician. Just becuase somebodys a singer doesn't mean that they can't do anything else with their life. If a race car driver plays golf, nobody has a go at him for having other hobbies. So if Dave wants to save lives, what's wrong with that?

Dave had done a lot of charity work over the years. Anyone who would criticize that is just a self-serving asshole. He could be just lying on the beach in Tahiti, but he chooses to do something good with his time.

Ed can't save himself nevermind anyone else.

Not inspiring news at all. It's like being a lawyer for 30 years and then deciding to work at McDonalds to "help out".

Do you honestly think Dave would be doing this if his solo career was stellar or he was back in VH? No way, it's the end of the road...

Dude, it isn't like he gets paid to do it....that's why they call it VOLUNTEER work. To Dave it is just another adventure, like when he was mountain climbing at the top of his career. Or going on safaris when he was in Van Halen...everyone has to have hobbies and things to do outside of their work.

David had always been an inspiration to me, and what anyone else says isn't going to to change the way I have felt for 25 years. Music aside, he had accomplished a lot in his life and we probably don't even know the half of it. Sometimes you have to delve a little deeper than the superficial.

Excellent Find and thank you for sharing this with us. It is always wonderful to get new information on the Diamond One. "Expects to receive his certificate in NOVEMBER"...November? though this is a nobel thing to do, and I certainly hope he enjoys it and gains satisfaction therefrom, I was harboring greater expectations for him between now and then. I feel very let down that Scandaavian Hickerettes are more important at this point in his life than us fans.

I wonder whats going to happen to New Yorks accident rate if people know in advance what one weekend per month Dave will be volunteering his services? Somebody call an EMT!

I think this is a cool thing and for those that doubt Dave's sincerity... as wacky as he can be when the man commits himself to a venture there's no half-assed about it. Makes sense given his family legacy in the medical profession and who knows... this could inspire Dave to get out of his cover collection and write something new and fresh...

Okay, I thought it but wasn't gonna say it. Hate bashing Dave on a Dave site and all that, but, no, I think he does have an ulterior motive. Maybe this training will help him in his acting career? Maybe he doesn't feel safe touring with Van Hagar unless he is qualified to treat medical emergencies? (for the band, not the fans) Maybe he has a thing for this trainer he is working under?

If it were Ed, Al, Mike, or Sam, all you sheep would be beating off on how great a person they are too.
