You veterans and pros here at Roth Army - I would like this question answered please. Sammy really is worthless with no talent. So how has he continued to survive in the music world. I presume he made good money with Van Halen, but his solo albums and sales are horrible. For example, when Sammy opened his new Tahoe Wabo last month he had some good musicians show up for his gigs. Plus, his new Tahoe joint was expensive to startup. It just doesn't make sense to me.
Here is an article about it in the Hollywood Reporter. I realized the article is overblown, but you get my point.
Hagar's Cabo Wabo brings party to Tahoe

Lake Tahoe has a new native son -- Sammy Hagar. Brightly colored posters featuring Hagar's mischievous smile advertising his new Cabo Wabo Cantina Tahoe at Harveys Resort Casino decorate the road from Reno to Lake Tahoe. A couple who flew in from Los Angeles yell, "Look, it's Sammy! I can't believe we're going to see him!"
Hagar fans from around the country made the pilgrimage to Lake Tahoe for the grand opening of the Cabo Wabo Cantina. It marks the first sister restaurant-bar of Hagar's original Cabo Wabo in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, which opened 14 years ago.
"Let's have a party!" Hagar yelled to about 3,000 fans during the restaurant's ribbon-cutting ceremony last month.
The walls of the new restaurant are decorated with Hagar photos and gold and platinum records, and a video loop plays decades of Hagar footage on big-screen televisions. Hagar was personally involved with every aspect of the restaurant -- from the wait staff's costumes to working on the menu with executive chef Kerry Simon.
Hagar says he has no plans to turn Cabo Wabo into an impersonal franchise. "This place is me," he says. "I can only do it if it's personal. ... A good meal, good drink, good music -- what else is there?"
For Hagar, the Tahoe setting was perfect because, like Cabo San Lucas, it combines natural beauty with a party night life. "It's a beautiful place -- the woods, the lake -- and the day scene is completely different from the night scene," he says.
Fans made themselves at home during the three days of festivities at Harveys and sister casino Harrah's: They drank 700 cases of Hagar's premium Cabo Wabo Tequila, rocked out at three concerts and put thousands of dollars into the slot machines. The $1.7 million, 6,000-square-foot, 165-capacity Cabo Wabo Cantina restaurant served more than 3,700 meals.
Hagar's Tahoe opening is just one piece of the ski/summer resort's plan to revitalize the area, says Don Marrandino, senior vp at Harrah's Northern Nevada. Last weekend, rock queen Courtney Love made her way to Tahoe to marry 21 couples as part of a radio promotion. "Tahoe has not seen a party like this in a long time," one casino waitress said.
The party got into full swing at Harrah's South Shore Room (aka the Cabo Nightclub). Hagar and the Waboritas performed three sold-out shows that included memorable guest performers. Country superstar Toby Keith joined Hagar onstage for a rousing cover of "Honky Tonk Woman," with Johnny Hiland on guitar, as well as Keith's hit song "I Love This Bar."
Hagar also performed Alice in Chains' "Man in the Box" with Chains guitarist Jerry Cantrell and the Cult's Billy Duffy. Ted Nugent joined Hagar onstage for "Cat Scratch Fever" and "Route 66." The Dead's Bob Weir was on hand for an acoustic version of "Knockin' on Heaven's Door." A highlight for Hagar fans was former bandmate Ronnie Montrose's guest appearance for their Montrose band hit "Rock Candy."
Backstage, sipping his signature drink -- the Cabo Waborita made with blue curacao -- Hagar says, "It doesn't get much better than this."
