    Lemme see if I remember...

Card game with Al and some others....

They win $85, and the others don't want them to leave...

Dave tells them, "if you make me mad, I'm gonna go get Joe, and Joe is bad...."

Then he goes and gets his shotgun and says "Hey motherfuckers, this is Joe.... "

Good Audience -> Vinyl Bootleg -> Silver CD bootleg :: CBR 320 kbps.
        There are/were vinyl bootlegs???? :surprise:
If vinyl bootlegs couldn't be stopped, where there must be a factory and a point of sale or a physical trade; why on earth does anyone think any sort of dent could be made in digital format other than the TOS agreement and guarantee of no spy-ware or Trojans and people too lazy to do bit torrent?

Absolutely, in fact, my drunk ass bought THIS bootleg on vinyl from a Seoul, Korea DJ in a bar....

Also bought about four other vinyl boots in a Tokyo record store.... L.A. '84, Quebec City '84, Montreal '84, and another one I can't remember....

You could get busted for records???
How would customs have known what was legit or not... before the Internet?
That seems a lot of knowledge to have before computerized data banks.

There was an add in Rolling Stone some years back, maybe...1991? 1992? Either way, it promised recordings from Van Halen that YOU HAVE NEVER HEARD BEFORE!!!

Curious, I gave them a response and found it to be a mail order thing. They sent you a printed catalog (low budget, but still...) of Van Halen live recordings they had dating from 1975 (songs before Dave was in the band with their first lead singer! Black Star, All That I Need and Sleepless Nights!) up to 1991-1992. Cassettes that they sent you were blank and would run about $7.00 a pop. I think, overall, I probably forked over about $200 to them all told.

They finally bowed out with the advent of "Live: Right Here, Right Now" with the explanation that "Since Van Halen now has an official live album, there's no more need for us! Send your last orders now!"

I sent them a pretty scathing letter and told them that Hagar drinks his own urine, and if that's the way they felt they could go fuck themselves. And to send three more DLR era tapes, here's $25, thank ya.

Looking back, I find it pretty astonishing that they got away with advertising the personal sale of bootlegs through Rolling Stone. Don't remember what they were called now, but based on the fact that Rolling Stone let them get away with advertising in their pages and they stopped when the live album came out...I've wondered at times who I was actually dealing with, lol...

Shame the other thread got closed... it had the potential for a Miss Chrissi's big thread like at DDLR. So much good net bashing material wasted...

There are still stores that sell bootlegs on vinyl. Picked up The Misfits "12 Hits from Hell" in one of them a couple years ago. They had some other cool shit there too. But I gotta admit, I love the way digital technology has made it much easier to acquire bootlegs, and turn it from a black market cash business into fans trading with each other online.

Yeah there used to be guys that toured the UK selling bootlegs on tape and vinyl at record fairs. I guess the interweb put them out of business.

Initially for me it was kind of difficult to even get bootlegs on the internet because if you have nothing to trade then you are stuck.

A few people at this site like Cato sent me some out of the goodness of their hearts a long time ago. Nowadays bit torrents mean that you can get stuff without all that postal nonsense. Personally I only keep half a dozen I'm not a collector.

They have some of those stores here as well. Unfortunately, i'm not on the hunt for any Hank Williams Jr or Charlie Daniels boots.
