Rare EVH guitar recovered in NJ theft probe

No idea which one was recovered, but here it is anyway....

Investigators Recover Rare Guitar in Midland Park Theft Probe

Three men have been arrested for allegedly stealing more than $50,000 worth of musical instruments – including a rare Eddie Van Halen Fender Guitar -- from a Midland Park music supply store, Bergen County Prosecutor John Molinelli said.

Jeronimo Frutero, a shipping supervisor at American Musical Supply and his friend Richard Rodriguez worked together to orchestrate the alleged scheme, according to the county prosecutor’s office.

Possing as a customer, Rodriguez purchased several inexpensive items online from the store. Furtero then replaced the order with more expensive items, switched the shipping labels and had unsuspecting delivery workers package and ship the high-end music equipment, the prosecutor said.

“Rodriguez paid for the less expensive item and actually received items worth substantially more money," the prosecutor’s office said.

A third man, Michael Nuzzo, also allegedly ordered cheaper items online and actually received more expensive ones, Molinelli said.

The prosecutor's office said police discovered $55,000 worth of stolen items, including the Van Halen guitar, in Rodriguez's West Paterson home.

Only 100 such guitars were produced, according to the prosecutor's statement.

The case was handled by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s White Collar Crime Unit and the Midland Park Police Department.

If the cops found my stolen guitars and the EVH replica was there, I'd be saying "no way dude, look how old & thrashed this thing is. I've had it forever."

I remember some guys did that at Ingram-Micro snicking a couple hundred-thou Intel processor for HP Laserjet orders.

I think theft like this is very common.

When an opportunity, pressure or motivation is present, yea, it does happen in any commodity.
          Joke~
But what is a guitar, what's the point of That? some string and wood, boom there ya go a musical instrument.
          Joke~
However, just because it happens that is no reason to let the screwballs, go unchecked.
Theft happens all the time everywhere, just like speeding, murder, Bernie Madeoff's, rape, drunk driving, public urination. No, they are not the same, but let the urination stream on your head, then someone peeing in public is a big deal.
To put it simply, we need to worry a lot less about how to communicate our actions and much more about what our actions communicate.

Shit like that is never smart. That much money in inventory goes missing, someone is going to go looking for it.

The problem with this kind of theft is you need to launder what your did. If you have a traceable trail back to you they will find you. The order and the shipping address needs to be untracable to you.
