What's to like about Dave today... who the fuck knows? Where is he?
The only think I like is the concept that the Dave collaboration with Van Halen is still a possibility and another severing of the artistic relationship has not been publically announced.
Beyond that... I got nothin for ya..."If you want to be a monk... you gotta cook a lot of rice...”Comment

What do I like...?
The same thing that I did 30+ years ago; that he's David Lee Roth.
Classic VH is timeless. And as he is a founding father, so is he.
Amen,

I like the fact that whatever stage Dave walks on, the crowd are up and on their feet!
Back in the day i also loved the fact that he is or was the only frontman who could stand on stage and just talk to the audience with them going nuts to his stories, I think his record was 15 mins talk without music.Comment

I love that Dave talks to me by phone every day, and has offered to father my children.
Oh dear.

Guess what I appreciate most about Dave these days is that he could have pretty much sleepwalked through the 2007-2008 reunion, but didn't. He could have just went onstage, sang half-assed, said "Look at all the people here tonight!" a few times and buggered off to count his loot, but he didn't.
After all the bullshit from the Van Halens, Hagar and Anthony about how "washed up" Dave is, it was really cool to see Roth out there last year singing more verses than he often did when Van Halen were in their prime. He refined his act for the 2007-2008 tour to where there weren't umpteen 10 minute monologues between songs, and kept things moving.
Yeah, the leaps from the drum riser are a thing of the past. So is his hair. So are some of the screams he used to hit back in the day which he probably couldn't reach now if he were strapped to a NASA rocket. However, the dude really made an effort to be prepared (at least for the gig I saw them at, anyway) and ready to give what appeared to be the best he was capable of.
One one hand, with ticket prices what they are, it should be a given that any performer fronting a group charging $100 a pop would be at their best. No special thanks should be given to a performer for doing their job well. However, the reality is that too many of these groups have an attitude where they feel the audience are the ones who are lucky to see the band (when it's really the other way around).
Bit of a shame the effort Roth put out, after all the years of waiting, was somewhat negated by that drunken stumblefuck Eddie.Scramby eggs and bacon.Comment

I like the fact that not only is he a licensed 'copter pilot and a licensed Emergency Medical Technician and a black belt, but you also see him at shooting ranges and shit. Not to mention the extremely high-level of intelligence the dude possesses.
You can call him a batshit-crazy, ego'd-out, lunatic if you want (and also at your peril), but through the eyes of a revolutionary, these are the qualities of someone you'd want on your team.

I like the fact that he came out on tour and established that he can still kick fucking ass.
I like the fact that he proved the VH is only VH with him at the wheel (now if they'll just let him take it).
I like the fact that he re-confirmed legend status and could walk away from music forever, RIGHT fucking NOW, and still go down as one of the most, if not THE most legendary front men of all time.
Fucking A.Comment

I like the fact that Dave came back and proved to any doubters that he really is the only frontman for Van Halen. I also like his new look - very cool.Comment
