Name Your FAVORITE Solo Dave AXE SLINGER !!!

. . . is hard to believe any of the illustrious guitarists the majestic diamond man employed could shred any more brilliantly than the undisputable king of shred steve hunter but i'd say john 5 comes close as does jason becker and steve vai gave them a run for their just like paradise money too!

Jason Becker. ALAE is Dave's best album. Just think, Jason recorded it at 50% capacity too.

Jason Becker, agreed...overall, a motherfucker of a player and had good song ideas.

Terry Kilgore is certainly up there in the songwriting department.

Lowery did some nice work on the DLR Band. Bit of a shame the Diamond Dave album couldn't have had more tunes done in that type of style.

I suppose I should give Vai an honorable mention, but too often his stuff on EEAS and Skyscraper amounted to great solos in search of an even greater song. Not all the time, but frequently enough.

Flat, squishy, over compressed lifeless tone... does nothing for me...

Guess I'd have to hear something he's written to make an honest opinion of his playing, seeing as I've only seen him copy other guys stuff. Has he even written anything I'd have heard?

Jason Becker...loved that guy's style and a great songwriter.

Steve Vai....just because he was the man on the first two full albums. I remember hearing that Dave had Vai and Billy in the band before I even heard the album. I was thinking these motherfuckers are going to take Dave all the way to the top, sure enough!

i'd have to say that terry kilgore was the weakest of the bunch.

I wish we could have heard more from Jason Becker, but we all know why that wasn't possible.

Lowery, on the other hand, left just for the money.. to join a band where being an actual musician wasn't even necessary. Never even got to see him live, the bastard!

Was hoping to hear an album of originals from Dave's last lineup (Brian/James/Ray) but that never materialized, and it was hard to really make a judgment on a covers album.

Steve Vai for "big trouble" and Jason Becker for "Drop in the bucket" I loved the 2 guitarists.

For VH material and blues type stuff... Brian Young.

John Lowrey for the more obscure stuff.

                              Dishonorable mention... Vai...
