    VH at Download Festival?

In other AC/DC news, the band will headline the U.K.'s Download Festival for the first time ever, which runs from June 11 to 13 at Donington Park in Leicestershire. Them Crooked Vultures also have joined the event, along with Deftones, Bullet For My Valentine, Motorhead, Stone Temple Pilots, Wolfmother, Volbeat and Megadeth. More names are expected to be announced soon, with Van Halen among those strongly rumored to be playing this year's festival, according to NME. Meanwhile, fans also can catch Them Crooked Vultures on Saturday Night Live on February 6, or on an episode of Austin City Limits airing Saturday, February 13 on PBS.

Doubt it. Download usually has a 'Classic Rock' day, which I assume AC/DC will headline. I doubt they'd put Van Halen on another day, so they have to go on before AC/DC with only an hour set - SpEd would never agree to that.

I actually don't think that they're a big enough draw for the kids in the UK to headline this sort of festival. An arena tour maybe, because the older crowd would go, but headlining a contemporary metal festival? Nah.....

We've been told that we'd get a new album and tour for 2010....

Well, nearly one month is already gone and not even a peep that they're doing anything at 5150 except the noodling that Ed does probably every day....

The VH PR machine isn't stupid enough to not even publicize that they've started to make the new album, are they ??

        Disregard that, never mind...

Would be nice, but i doubt it.

Can't see ED travelling outside of th USA for a one off gig.

It would have to be part of a world tour, which Ed and Shemp haven't done for years,

Van Halen does everything they possibly can to squander their legend. They should be like The Who, the Stones, etc... Headlining festivals occasionally, Super Bowl halftimes, a new album every 3-4 years, showing up at their own HoF induction. They did just enough this last decade to keep money flowing. But the possibilities were so much greater. What a waste.

I just can't see Dave (or Ed) agreeing to go to this thing and open for ANYONE. But then again, all logic and reason went away from everything this band is doing YEARS ago.

I will now go to the shitter, and while I'm in there, I will pray that Van Halen accepts the offer to play at the festival and then ends up opening for Chickenfoot. Maybe that will teach them a lesson, and we can finally see the on-stage battle royal we all hunger for.

I think there would be no shame for Van Halen supporting AC/DC at Download/Donnington - remember they did so before at the peak of their power in 1984.

Binnie is right Van Halen aren't big enough in the UK to headline something like this. Far too many years of neglecting Europe. As I've said before by the early 1990s Dave solo was bigger than Van Hagar partly because he toured here and they didn't.
