    Classic Rock Mag....

The special issue on 1980 that just hit the stands has a piece on Women and Children First. Mike is the one who commented. There's a cool shot of Roth I hadn't seen before: B&W side view, split kick and his nose is taped...I'm thinking this may have been shortly after the disco ball misadventure Dave described in his book.
My scanner is on the fritz, otherwise, I would have posted it here.
Great mag...I just wish it wasn't so damned expensive!

The 1980 issue was pretty cool - I'm not normally a fan of issues where a magazine does lists or endless reviews, but I thought that this one was done quite well, espeically for those of us who weren't born that year.

        Alright Dad :D

My first memories of music mags come from Kerrang! (when it was good). Probably around 1990/1991. I seem to remember that Axl Rose was on the cover of the first one I bought, I was around 9 I think...

Hey! watch that 'old guy' stuff!
The other day, I had on Motley's 'Too Fast For Love', one of the service techs was picking up some equipment for install, and asked if that was the Crue I had playing, I answered 'Yeah, their debut...you were probably in grade school' When he asked the year and I told him, he just grinned and said:
'Dude, that was the year I was born!'
          Cripes, I'm gettin' old....

I can't believe I'm 45! But I don't care because those of us who grew up in the 70s and 80s were blessed with some amazing music from so many great artists.

I like Classic Rock Magazine, but music mags are so pricey these days.

I get Rolling Stone for free, my grandma bought a tee shirt and I get a year for free, yadda yadda... Occasionally good stuff in there.

                I CAN'T BELIEVE IT'S NOT BUTTER!

Just kidding. I'm 14 and I seemingly have more wisdom than a bunch of people here, but that might just be my ego getting to my head...
Reading Crazy From the Heat in four hours flat, in a cramped RV, on the return trip of a 3,000+ mile family outing to New Jersey is an enlightening experience you'll never forget.

Rolling Stone for free is still a waste of money.

either your ego or the repeated "hail satan" stuff at school.

I bought the first Kerrang. Just looked it up, that was in 1981.

Yeah. Famously he thought it was a practical joke by the person who showed him it as in KerrANGus

$10 a pop stateside is a bit much.

Bought the mag religiously for several years, but kind of tapered off as particular artists were constantly featured in every issue it seemed. Plus, a lot of the stories started repeating or were things I'd read about already.

These days, I try to browse the mag in the bookstore first before buying it. Like, when they did a prog rock issue several months back I had no interest in most of the bands profiled, so I gave that one a miss.

Really the only rock mag left worth buying these days, though. SPIN is just too trendy, and Rolling Stone is just hopeless.
