Dweezil Zappa: “Van Halen played me some new stuff from his record”

Doesn't it figure that the first thing we hear about new VH music is from someone OUTSIDE the VH camp....
What the fuck did he marry his PUBLICIST for ??Eat Us And Smile - The Originals
"I have a very belligerent enthusiasm or an enthusiastic belligerence. I’m an intellectual slut." - David Lee Roth
"We are part of the, not just the culture, but the geography. Van Halen music goes along with like fries with the burger." - David Lee Roth -
Janie's too busy raising her profile as Mrs. Van Halen and forwarding her own career as stuntwoman, publicist, actress, etc....
If she hasn't done anything fruitful for the VH camp by this point, she never will and will be content to let the chips fall where they may.
Here's the Dweezil quote from the VHND that catches one's attention...
"It’s kind of funny, because I’ve recently been spending some time with Eddie Van Halen after being out of touch for a while. He was playing me some new stuff from his record, and I was playing him some stuff that I had been working on for this project, you know, playing Frank’s music. He actually came to the Jeff Beck show the other day too. [Dweezil is talking about the recent LA show on 4/17/10 when he opened for Jeff Beck - VHND] ...."
It would have been nice if Dweez elaborated a bit on what he heard and/or what he thought of it....Last edited by fryingdutchman; 05-21-2010, 10:28 AM.Originally posted by perilouspete

Am I the only one concerned about the "his record" stuff? Sounds like a solo album rather than new VH. Not that I expect either to ever be released...ROTH ARMY MILITIA

Sharky sometimes needs things spelled out for him in explicit, specific detail. I used to think it was a lawyer thing, but over time it became more and more evident that he's merely someone's idiot twin.Comment

You could read more into the statement than that. Think about it, Zappa states that Ed was "playing me new stuff from his record" (or words to that effect). He doe NOT say that he was listening to actual recordings. For all we know, they were merely passing a guitar back and forth between them.

Eddy has been saying for years that he has been "writing new stuff". I don't know that this is anything to get excited about just yet.Comment

Dweezil could have been meant that they were sitting around with some hash and some Smoking Loon listening to an old 8-track of Van Halen II or some shit.
Well, he DID say 'new' stuff, but who the fuck knows?Comment

Well, he was right about the stuff they were doing with DLR in 2000, but I won't hold my breath for this one until I have the record in my hand.I brought my pencil!!!Comment
