I'm not a drummer but I don't really hear the Bonham influence. Alex isn't as heavy sounding to me.

I recall Dave on the radio talking about Mike being a true architect of the band. He was the only responsible one to make sure the lights were working, sound was set up etc. Dave called Mike the foundation of VH.

I saw them a handful of times, and never did i think about bass player... Sure it would have been nice to see his fat mullet up there but I honestly didn't miss it.

oh ya no doubt! Personally Id go for Dave & Ed... But the back up vocals were def missing and although I do believe he was playing Bass, it needed to be turned way the fuck up!

I hear a bit of Bonham in AVH's playing. Wouldn't say much more than a bit, though.

Anthony should have been asked, but I took about as much note of Van Halen's bass player live in 2008 as I did when I saw them live in 1984, which is to say not very much.

That being said, in terms of getting a bass player who will challenge the band musically, clearly Wolfie isn't gonna fill such a role. Perhaps his greatest use was the assumption that his prodding was what broke Ed's resistance to working with Roth again. Not insubstantial, but beyond that the kid ain't exactly pulling his weight.

Does anyone else think Alex Van Halen is the most arrogant prick in Van Halen. I mean i have been sat watching all manner of Van Halen stuff lately, interviews and what not and in practically everything i see the guy just gives of the vibe of one who thinks he is more than he is. I recently saw some interview after dave left where he was saying "yea this is the real van halen, the other one was just a practice". I mean what a prick. constantly calling Diamond Dave, one of the greatest vocalists of all time, as "the other guy". This guy just pisses me off to no end. I mean just ARG that guy fucks me off. Im sure he would Fuck sammy given the chance. well providing he can get his head outa his own ass for a sec.
