    three astonishing tunes

"About a year ago, myself and the great Van Halen band played together once or twice and it sounded amazing. In the following several months, Edward and I--Edward Van Halen and me, David Lee Roth--created some of the most amazing, phenomenal--the hands fell off the clock, ladies and gentleman--and we wrote three astonishing tunes.
"That was last July, and since then, I haven't been up to the studio, we haven't really been in touch, and we haven't made any music. But I am holding forth, I'm in the shape of my life, and I got the high note. I'm ready to go."

Anybody know anything about this third song?

Do you know how to read. I asked" Anybody know anything about this third song?" I put in the paragraph just to show what I'm talking about in case someone didn't know smartass. Wait aren't you the one always asking about Dave's unreleased songs everywhere. Do you know ? I should just asked Cato.

A classic Van Halen live DVD.

          5 hours plus.

And an accompanying CD with classic unreleased studio demos and such.

Yep. How sweet it would be.

Did VH actually put any of those 2000 songs down on tape? Never really got the story on what happened other than Dave's statement (and Ed's confirmation) a year after the fact that they got together.

Dave later said about a year ago that those songs were just in a raw demo form and pretty much blew them off as nothing.

Ed mentioned 2 years ago at the LAPD Golf Charity thing that they were also rough demos and would never see the light of day.

I wouldn't pin too much hope of them ever being released unless they mine the archives Hendrix style after Ed has left us...

You know, I've found the Hendrix archive releases fascinating. FIRST RAYS OF THE NEW RISING SUN, the recent box set, albums like LOOSE ENDS and CRASH LANDING...these are fascinating gems.

And I sadly know that Ed's days are probably numbered...the man should be on any dead pool in the country.

So, I do hope we at least get a ton of archive releases. I want to hear some of that stuff. But no, obviously I don't want anyone's death just so I can hear what they have in their vaults.

Destiny told me that there will be a treasure trove of classic Van Halen released to the public very soon.

...of course, that was right before she gave me a lap dance, so I take it with a grain of salt.

I only know of a rumored third song from the "best of" sessions called "Blood From A Stone" that was recorded with Dave the same time as CGTSNM and MWM.

I think the music was later used during the Gary Cherone era on a song that was never released.

Mezro...i'd love to hear Blood From A Stone

There were a bunch of rumored titles for those three songs floated about in 2001.

Raw demo form? Shit, why not release them? Van Halen 3 and the new Van Hagar songs have all the production qualities of a raw demo. Sounds like they were recorded on a boom box. Think Ed's 5150 studio console consists of a Panasonic cassette player these days.

At this point, all that stuff in the vaults pertaining to the classic era should be put out there. If Halen is good for nothing other than greatest hits albums and re-releasing old material, might as well shoot the moon.

You've already heard them! The three new tunes Van Hagar recorded. Take away the ridiculous titles, shitty lyrics, and the horrendous singing by Sam Hagar, and there is your answer. Sad isn't it?
