Ed's gonna do what Ed's gonna do.

Half the impression I got from the recent activity was that Ed was doing it, in part, as a concession to that part of the fanbase that wanted to see him back with Dave. Ed being Ed, it was done with the twist of having his kid in the band as well, rather than Mike Anthony, perhaps giving Ed the psychological cover he needed to tell himself 'Van Halen' is HIS band these days and he runs the ship. Fair enough, because 'Van Halen' these days is essentially run by the Van Halens. Roth can participate if he plays ball, and as fans we can either accept it or not. Whatever.

It'd be neat to see that classic footage restored and released. If Ed wants to make money, he'll sign off on it. If not, it will continue to be bootlegged (either traded or sold) and he won't see a dime.

It's kind of to the point for me that even a full-on, proper reunion isn't gonna be some earth-shaking event. Perhaps just a function of getting older combined with having been lucky enough to see CVH live back in the day, but what are the chances that even a full-on reunion is gonna produce new music or live appearances that reach the same levels of excellence the band attained from 1978 to 1984?

The 6-pack continues to age well. The only loose ends for me are the aforementioned presumed 'vaulted' cvh video material that hasn't seen the light of day yet, but it eventually will in good time one way or another. Beyond that, Van Halen really has nothing left to offer that they haven't served up already.

Yeah, i may have bought that stuff back in the day but most of us are a little old to be interested in stuff like that now. Hell, back in 83-84, i probably had every VH t-shirt, bumper sticker, button and mirror related to the 1984 album and tour. Got so bad that my mom told me if i bought anything else with Van Halen on it she would ground me.

What always amazed me were the coke mirrors. They had cuts in them for sorting, then snorting lines of cocaine, and they were readily available in record stores, out in plain view. I'd love to know what happened to my old Pat Travers one.

Sniper, I admire your frustration, I really do.... Many of us here that have come here daily for the past 10 years are beyond the point of frustration for exactly the same reasons that you mentioned...

But here's the thing.....

As a member of the Roth Army (and it will be portrayed as that if it ever happens, trust me), do you REALLY want us being known as the entity (by way of Facebook) that wants to boycott VH/EVH ??

We at The Roth Army have always championed ourselves as the true place to celebrate Dave and Classic Van Halen, which of course is the ONLY Van Halen....

So now that VH appears to be getting close to releasing a new album, do you really think creating a boycott VH Facebook page will do anything BUT throw egg on our collective faces here ??
