Does anyone know where Mikey lives? Did he live close by as well?
Even if everyone was in the same city, a problem was Ed being a control freak and recording stuff whenever he wanted i.e. middle of the night, or when others weren't around. Recording somewhere else would loosen Ed's total control and speed up the whole recording process.

Sure with modern technology they don't even have to be together to record. But what made CVH so great was the way they sounded live off the floor. Together in one studio, cranking it out.

Here's an idea. They book a studio for a month outside of the USA, where they have to actually live together until it's done.

that would cause death...it's hard enough to get them in one room for longer than 5 minutes without killing each other...

The choice of studio will be the least of their problems.

This record will be as appealing as a floater after a night at a Mexican restaurant.

And like said floater...it will feel damn good to them once they finally get it out.

Yeah. Mike lived a short commute distance away too. I think he is selling or has sold that house though. Pics of it were on a real estate website & then posted here. Nice pad.

Eddies house & studio are very central to Los Angeles & Hollywood. The nice thing about the area is there are a shit load of freeways that go out in all directions. So no matter which direction away from the main city a band member or producer lives, it's still just a hop onto the freeway into the city to get to Eds house.

I've heard from numerous sources 5150 is a real dirty shit hole. It's not a great studio by any means. I think it was the result of Valerie getting tired of Ed's smoking, drinking, and noise making. She was tired of having drunk and obnoxious Al and Ed's dad coming over every day. She booted Ed to the racquetball court and gym and she claimed the main house. It's really more of Ed's dysfunctional hangout than a real productive studio.

At $2.3 million, that seems priced low for Cali standards.

And anyways, Daves house in Pasadena isn't really all that far from Eddies. Both somewhat close to the freeway and the freeway drive itself is only about 15-20 minutes. In So CA it's a great sunny drive as long as you time it correctly to miss the nasty rush hour traffic.

Daves commute to 5150 is a lot less than most people commute to work every day. Or at least a typical commute.
Get on Muholland or Ventura and hit Coldwater from either side. I think it's aways rush hour on the 405. It was miserable trying to get up to Culver City from Newport Beach.
