The fact that they listed the entire credits at the end of Unchained should be the giveaway that the entire show was filmed...
Sadly, even if it's in some warehouse somewhere, it's probably not in great condition....
I'd bet my last dollar that the '81 Oakland show was in the possession of Noel Monk. He's dead now, so now telling what happened to that footage. It's just a damn shame that Ed didn't have the foresight to preserve some of their old concert footage. Fucking idiot!
That particular clip above looks like maybe a fan shot it up close, but I could be wrong. They supposedly had a film crew there for all three nights according to some who were lucky enough to be there back then.

Mike claims that there's a whole bunch of shit at 5150, would not doubt for a second Ed. has a ton of shit he's just sitting on atm. I recall seeing in a promo video for one of his new guitars or something that took footage from a Classic VH show that I had never seen before. It sure as shit wasn't from the Hagar era as well.
Warner Bros. has also taken down a few videos of CVH preforming on TV, and I saw on VH1 recently, that they used footage from the "...and the cradle will rock", in the best damn quality I've ever seen.

This has been taking place for over two years now. (Many Van Halen videos pulled from Youtube, VHND) Guess where a bunch of them have started showing up? You guessed it, at Warner Brother's own recently introduced video site: WB VAN HALEN

IF Ed is indeed sitting on any old footage, then he should be strung up by his balls for not releasing it. Something tells me that his "perfectionist" nature prevents him from doing so. It was never good enough for him in other words, and this is why we are continually denied it. If and when he ever does release this footage, it will be too late. People have been clamoring for it for years and with each passing day, fans interest dwindles further.
I think you may be thinking of some fairly recent award show where they showed a previously unreleased clip of VH back in the day. I kind of recall it. The only reason we saw it is because there are certain media companies who took the time to film the band in their heyday. It's doubtful that Mr. Crotchety Fuck gave it to them. For instance, the VH segment of the US Festival was filmed by Showtime even though only a song or two ever appeared live on TV in 1983.
Warner Bros have been really anal the past few yrs. about anything VH related at youtube, mainly because of copyright infringement. They constantly yank people's homemade contributions. Warner could be sitting on footage too for all we know. Promos anyway, at least.
