It always amazed me how close VH sounded to the album when they played live. Even on that super 8 magnetic sound track the sound is still amazingly good. I found some old reel to reel with me as a little kid in the 60's talking on it. I don't think the sound degraded much over the years. It's amazing how well magnetic recordings last over time as long as they aren't stored near a magnetic source. It was BASF tape.

But then hard drives are the same magnetic technology on a more durable surface than polyester film. I would imagine recordings on a good quality hard drive would last a long time. Even if you have stack failure the disks are usually still good. I've already seen problems with DVD's and CD's that were marketed as being archive quality.

The thing is our MP3's on our PC's are still stored on a magnetic device. The same technology that super 8 soundtrack was stored on.

There has to be more footage from that. How do I figure this? Because it was shot on a tripod. You can easily tell by the camera movement. The only way there would not be more footage would be if security gorillas saw the guy and went "OOGA BOOGA! GET CAMERA! TAKE MAN OUT OF ARENA! DO JOB!" and they forced him to stop.

            Wonder what show it was.

You have a point there. Usually, they look alot more like this....

It's a shame this guy didn't have seats farther back. I would've loved to see better footage of this gig....

That would make it Massey Hall. I fuckin love that place. Best sounding room in Toronto, hands down...

A lot of people with Super 8mm footage have finally gotten around to synching up with the audio bootlegs.
