Nothing earth-shattering, just thought I'd mention the odd coincidence of two DLR media 'sightings' in one day. First, in this month's copy of Uncut magazine (a UK publication - music, film, books, etc.) a journalist named Andrew Mueller recounts a meeting with DLR in 1994. It's all stuff we've heard before, but good to know that DLR still pops up in the thoughts of those who are not - like we sadsters - obsessives of one sort or another. These little vignettes appear every month on the last page of Uncut.
And later last night BBC aired a new documentary about the making of U2's Achtung Baby album, and there was the inevitable detour into the problem of egos almost getting the better of the band after they hit it big in the 80s. This was presented as something all too familiar to the life of rock bands, and there followed a little section on bands who fell out with each other, etc.
This mostly consisted of photographs of bands like Pink Floyd, Sex Pistols, etc. with band members dropping out or falling off the picture (as in the last one below), but DLR actually gets a speaking part at this point - probably because he always gave good quote. It's an archive clip that looks like it is from 85/86. Here's some screenshots from the BBC iPlayer:
The clip with Dave just contains his take on the fallout of the VH split: "it's like being taken out to dinner by someone and having a great time, then at the end of the evening they turn around and say - "I had a lousy time. And guess what? You're lousy too - but thanks for dinner."'
