When I first heard Me Wise Magic on the radio I was in the car with a girl I was dating at the time. This girl talked nonstop, all the time. So I'm ignoring her as usual and I flip the radio to 99.7 and I hear Me Wise Magic and I'm thinking, that's Dave...that's gotta be Eddie...and she's talking and I'm saying shut up, more talking and I keep turning up the radio, she talks even louder and I said "shut UP! That's Van Fucking Halen!!!!" Yeah, we didn't go out too many times after that. But the sheer excitement of hearing them together again for the first time, that was magic! It was almost as good as seeing them walk out on stage at the first show in Charlotte on the 2007 tour.

      Thanks bro!

Really excited to be a dad. I'm already making playlists in my head of great music I'm gonna introduce my new whippersnapper to.

Best to you and yours, buddy.

I personally love ME WISE MAGIC. I think it's incredible. A ride from beginning to end. Great vocal melody. One of my favorite Van Halen songs.

CAN'T GET THIS STUFF NO MORE is also pretty good, but not a favorite. It indeed was a leftover from Hagar sessions...and I'm sure Dave did things 1,000 times better with it than Cheesehead probably did for his vocal. But ME WISE MAGIC is the one I still come back to quite often.

Can't wait to hear the new album. (Though Bleater assures me it will be just like FAIR WARNING, so...since it's coming from Bleater...it must be right.)

I agree with VA. ONE WAY TO ROCK =VH= style from LWAN is killer. EVH fills in that song rock.

My tickets in the mail yet?

Knowing what a huge =VH= freak I am and how stoked I was about Dave supposedly rejoining Van Halen back in '96, two of my best buddies road-tripped 20 miles on the day 'Me Wise Magic' debuted to my place of employment and totally trashed my car out in the parking lot with toilet paper and soap on the windows with sayings like "DAVE RULES," "=VH=", and "ROTH ON!" I still have pictures of it. If I wasn't such a dumb-ass I would figure out how to upload them here. It was made even better when I drove home and heard the new tune on the radio. It was hotter than hell that day - no air in my car - window down, new Van Halen cranked as loud as it will go. Goosebump city. Still one of the best days of my life.

              I AGREE.

The fact that DLR sang his nuts off made the songs extra kick-ass!

That brings me to why I think I like humans being so much..

it's hard to hear spambo in the mix w/eddie's vocals and all the harmony.

So in essence, the best thing hagar ever did with VH was let someone else write the god damn lyrics!

MWM kicks ass because of Dave's lyrics --- I still can't completely figure out what he's singing about! The true genius of Diamond Roth. I also like CGTSNM -- "Barn burned down, now I can see the moon."

I'll take that kind of lingering mystery over pedestrian garbage like ---- "I need a job! I need a job! I dont have a computer! I need a job!" [recent Chickenshit social commentary]

Some sage advice... a good starter Hendrix's Belly Button Window gently piped in via headphones on mom's belly.

Reminds me of a time I was in a hotel in Amsterdam with my girlfriend at the time. Romantic weekend away from the drudgery of work. She was, er ... reclining on the bed, whilst I was busy on my knees, so to speak, making sure she was enjoying our little break. And, lo what should catch my attention RIGHT at that moment on the silent TV bolted onto the wall in the corner??! Yup, DLR and ... Sammy Fucking Hagar jointly presenting some award at some kind of MTV ceremony, or whavtever. I was both shocked and extrememly distracted and unable to go and turn up the TV, or even mention it. Would have been very bad manners.

Bear in mind that at this point in my life I had sort of lost touch with most things Van Halen, so I began to wonder if I had not actually entered another experiential dimension altogether. Roth and Hagar together, I thought - WTF. But, I like to think kept my focus on the job in hand at that particular moment.

I've actually mellowed on Hagar over the last few years. As much as I hate him, I decided that it was just too much effort. Now I perceive his attempts to derail the DLR years of the band and as pathetic rather than pissing me off. At the end of the day, you can't argue with the facts. He can "yeah, but" as much as he wants, doesn't change a thing. And, really, that's was the only reason I disliked him anyway. If it wasn't for that I never would have hated him for making music that I didn't like.

As for what he's done that is actually any good...I still quite like the first Montrose album. But I suspect that's more down to Ronie Montrose the Hagar.

I love that song, ZZ. FIRST RAYS OF THE NEW RISING SUN is possibly my favorite Hendrix album...and that song just oozes feeling (and irony, being I think Hendrix's last studio vocal of his life, sung to a baby that hasn't even yet been born).

                          Great fucking idea.

No shit. Other Hendrix material would be great as well......Castles Made Of Sand...Wind Cries Mary....nice quiet psychedelic non-threatening music to induct a future rocker into the world of rock music.

I played Belly Button Window to my two youngest when they were in the oven... now 10 & 13. It's one of their favorite songs. After they were born and they'd be fussy sometimes I'd crank that tune up and they'd immediately calm down. I'd figure it imprinted when they were in the womb.

Another good one is Ed's Cathedral...

I seriously don't hate nobody... not even Hagar, great singer, good solo career with a couple of "good albums", whatever...
Yeah, he made the Van Halen too commercial, and that sucks, I hate Runraround and the fucking "Feels So Good",
what a fucking waste of time for that piece of shit. But to be honest I like a couple of Van Hagar songs as well..
Humans Being gotta be my favorite, Get Up, Dreams (great vocals, and the music's good), 5150, Judgement Day, Poundcake, fuck!
there are way to many Hagar era songs that I like... don't get me wrong....

                                I BELIEVE IN ROTH!

and cant wait for the fucking new album!
I had some crazy vision, one I can't deny it
It said "Open your eyes. Leave it all behind."
